8. It was wonderful! Chaser is so scary smart.
I love Border Collies but I don't think I'm strong enough or smart enough to have one. (Chaser would be herding me wherever she wanted me in about two and a half minutes.)
That "Darwin" business was really really impressive.

2. I saw that on the evening news last night. Simply AMAZING. Humans need to get off our pedestal
and realize we are not nearly as special as we've liked to believe ourselves.

3. We can something similar to this with our golden retriever, Cassidy...
We can call out a toy for her to find in the house, and she will go and find it.

She probably has a 70% success rate at finding her blue rings, big red bone, tennis ball and stick when asked...

She's a smart cookie!

4. Very few people take advantage of a dogs intelligence.
Most people don't even teach their dog to sit.

6. I had a dog that taught me
He had me completely trained! He brought me various items and I was able to determine what he wanted almost every time! If he'd had thumbs, he would have been dangerous.

12. They didn't show
The guy behind the sofa handing out the toys!! J/K

It's a shame that many dogs are smarter than most humans, especially those in the USA. It's also a shame humans don't love each other the way a dog loves it's owner~

13. here's how to teach a dog to fetch by name
This is from a great free weekly newsletter. I haven't tried it yet.

http://www.woofreport.com/perfect-petiquette/2157-teach-your-dog-to-fetch-objects-by-name.html

Here’s how you teach it:

VERBAL CUE: "Find (object name)"

PREREQUISITES: 'Fetch' is helpful

1. Start with a fun object whose name is already familiar to your dog, such as a bumper or tennis ball. Lay it in a clear area alongside two other non-enticing objects, such as a hammer and hairbrush.

2. Point toward the objects and tell your dog to “find (object name).” Praise him the moment he grabs the correct object. Use your fetch command to encourage him to bring it to you. When he brings you the object, reward him with a treat rather than by playing with the toy, as the latter would encourage him to select only toys from the pile of objects.

3. Add a second familiar object to the set, one whose name is known to your dog. Alternate asking your dog to find each of the two familiar objects. If he chooses incorrectly, don’t scold him; instead do not acknowledge it one way or the other. Keep telling him to “find (object name).” Add a new item when your dog is good at correctly picking the item you've asked for several times in a row.

14. My dog would adore this game!
We play a game I call Where's the Squeaky? I hide one of his toys and he searched them out using "hot" and "cold" prompts from me if needed. He'll also pick up and put his toys away if I ask. Never thought to put several toys out for him at once and have him choose the right one. Thanks for a new game for me and my Bear! :hi:
