KS House panel considers repealing law granting tuition breaks to illegal immigrants
TOPEKA | With anti-immigration sentiment high and conservatives firmly in power, critics of Kansas law granting in-state tuition to children of illegal immigrants hope this is the year they vote to repeal.

A bill to do just that already has more than two dozen sponsors in the Kansas House. At a hearing on the bill Tuesday, critics of the 2004 law said it gives an unfair subsidy to people who are breaking a law just by living in Kansas.

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, one of the law’s loudest opponents, noted that foreign students living in the U.S. on a student visa aren’t eligible for the tuition break, but undocumented residents are.

“If you’re breaking federal law, you’re eligible for in-state tuition, but if you follow federal law, too bad, you don’t get the benefit,” he said. “To me that’s shocking.”

1. Rethug hypocrisy is astounding.
They run away from federal law at possible chance and often refuse to support them in defense of state sovereignty. However, the "law" that makes it "illegal" for immigrants and non-citizens to be here is perfectly fine in their eyes. I need to take something to help my head stop spinning.

2. And no one is not eligible for instate tuition unless they don't live in the state
That part of their argument makes no sense. Why would a non-resident, who doesn't pay taxes to the state, be eligible for instate tuition?
