Palin Colorado Event Canceled After 'Onslaught Of Personal Attacks'
On Saturday, a Colorado nonprofit canceled a May event featuring Sarah Palin, just one day after announcing it, saying in a Facebook post that it had received an "onslaught of negative feedback."

The Sharon K Pacheco Foundation had scheduled its Patriots & Warriors Gala for May 2, and Palin was to be the keynote speaker, according to The Denver Post. The foundation's mission is "to provide assistance to military families and at-risk youth," and the event was to serve as a fundraiser for military families and children who have lost loved ones in combat.

"Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Governor Palin and others associated with her appearance, it is with deep sadness and disappointment that, in the best interest of all, we cancel the event for safety concerns," the Facebook post reads.

The announcement also states that no direct threats had been made against anyone, but said that the "increase in negative rhetoric against the former Alaska governor" after the Tucson shooting "raises concern for her safety and the safety of others despite the call for civility in America."

1. When is Palin joining the military?
The same time as Dick Cheney?

4. I think it's another cry to keep her name in the media spotlight.
She's still comparing herself to Gabby as being a victim.

5. I am guessing that ticket sales must have been lagging. That plus the emergence of Palin as a toxic
asset after the Tucson shootings.

She is history. Oh people will still pay her to come and make speeches. But more and more, she will become yesterday's news.

7. Why would you bring a dingbat that in as a guest speaker for a non-partisan issue
Seriously was Dick Cheney not available?

8. I guess they weren't paying her enough.
Using some nebulous safety concern is a perfect excuse for Palin to use to avoid the event. She can use the victim card and bail on an event that probably would have showcased her amongst the crazies.

10. Buyer's remorse
That's what it seems to be, anyway. The TMZ version of the story (http://www.tmz.com/2011/02/06/sarah-paline-event-canceled-safety-concerns-sharon-k-pacheco-foundation/) ends with "The foundation went on to say no direct threats were made against Palin or anyone else involved with the event."

So my first thought after reading that was that they don't want the bad publicity that would come with booking a toxic speaker.

Despite the ongoing story of Palin's "stalker," I don't see evidence of any threats directed toward Palin. Disliking someone and thinking that they should be ashamed of themselves isn't the same as threatening them.

If the Talibunny delivered that speech, she'd grab her check, high-tail it ouuta there, and never give it another moment's thought.

The Sharon K Pacheco Foundation, on the other hand, would be dealing with the fallout for God knows how long.

This was about buyer's remorse. It wasn't about threats or personal attacks.

12. Wow, people don't like the polarizing person we picked
to speak at our charity so we're going to cancel the event and site the fact that people don't like who we picked, nevermind that she says stupid things about a tragic event.

Of course it will be those radical leftest liberals who hate america, our troops, their families, and at-risk youths who get blamed for canceling this event.

13. Minute 17
As I theorized in another post here: The minute the Tracy Morgan kerfuffle became widespread I knew the tide had already turned.
