Christians Protecting Muslims Praying in Egypt (photo)
Edited on Fri Feb-04-11 09:37 AM by kpete

To those who suggest that the Egyptian revolution is a threat, that radical Muslims will take over and endanger Israel, here is an image that contradicts that negative energy. It has already been viewed over 120,000 times on one site alone.

1. Why would the Muslims need protection in an 85% Muslim country?
I've seen this photo before and also wondered if you're prohibited from wearing crucifixes.

How do the Christians know each other unless they attend the same church or have Jesus fish stitched onto seats of their jeans?

7. Because they're not answering the call of the muezzin
which tells Muslims when it is time to pray.

8. If all the Muslims are praying, and the Christians are protecting them, who are they in danger from
during prayer time?

11. Are you really that obtuse?
How's about the pro-Mubarak forces? In case you've missed the news lately, there's a revolution going on in Egypt that turned violent a couple of days ago.

12. Aren't the pro-Mubarack forces Muslim? If so, then not all Muslims are praying during prayer time.
If not all Muslims are are praying during prayer time, how do we know those two men are Christians?

4. Why would an extreme minority need to protect an extreme majority?
Are there more than just these two guys "guarding" everyone? The link has no real information.

15. I don't think it's prayer time either (which is why my post doesn't say that it is)
The OP, incidentally, also doesn't specifically mention prayer time. Some of the original twitter/blog/news chatter about the bridge incident said it happened when some muslims answered the call for prayer, but I'm skeptical of that as well. I also don't know with certainty that it's not, though perhaps you have some evidence to that end. (Full disclosure: I initially had unthinkingly put "prayer time" in the post when I made it yesterday, but edited it out for that reason.)

"and two guys are not going to stop a water hose"

I'm not sure what the two guys part has to do with it, but ... certainly two guys standing in the line of fire of a water cannon won't "stop" the water hose, but it will deflect water away from the people behind them.

Like you, I'm a bit curious about the full context for the photo in the OP and the issue of how we know the people in the picture are Christians, but the incident on the bridge seemed relevant to the issue of whether some in the crowd (whether engaged in prayer or not) might feel the people in the background performing their prayers might have need for protection.
