Presidential Cookie Bake-Off: Obama vs. Romney

<snip>

First lady Michelle Obama and Ann Romney are battling it out in this year’s Presidential Cookie Bake-Off, hoping for the votes that will hail them as the beholder of the best cookie recipe.

<snip>?

The first lady has chosen one of her “splurge” recipes for white and dark chocolate chip cookies made with walnuts and white, dark and mint chocolate chips.

“Every evening, Barack, the girls and I sit down for a family dinner with good conversation and healthy food. If we want to splurge, these White and Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies, created by the girls’ godmother, are the perfect special treat,” she writes.

<snip>

Ann Romney has chosen an oatmeal M&M’s cookie made with peanut butter, chocolate chips and M&M’s candies.

She wrote: “Mitt and I love spending time with our children and grandchildren. Whenever we get together you can be sure that we’ll mix up a batch of our family favorite M&M’s Cookies. They smell delicious coming out of the oven – our grandkids can’t resist them!”

Isn't it time we stopped equating women with baking cookies?

Not that there's anything wrong with anyone, male or female, baking cookies. I baked blueberry scones yesterday morning.

But, geez, why in hell are cookie recipes synonymous with being First Lady or wanting to be First Lady?

This is an idea whose time has passed, if indeed it ever made sense.

1. I guess it could be worse. At least there's no swimsuit competition!

3. I'm hoping you mean an end to the First Lady cookie bake off tradition, but
I have a feeling you mean a swimsuit competition--and you're probably right!

If Hillary runs again, will Bill have to don a speedo? (To paraphrase a First Lady, "Just say no!") Or just whip up some cookies?

I came up with a a killer Hermits recipe I am keeping secret, just in case I ever decide to run for office.
