where a DU'er explains how to do this "View Count." You set your computer for something walk away, have lunch and come back and the whole thing is done...you've got hundreds of posts or whatever post count you were trying to achieve. That this is possible with Computer Programs is astounding to me...but, then I'm semi-computer illiterate.

I would have thought that SOMEONE would have been checking this poster to see if this was TRUE VIEWS or some HACKING THING.

there are ways that admins can monitor with programs they have where view counts are coming from, and although as a mod we didn't ask (at least I didn't) what they do on their decisions with members. To go further, in my 5 months, I only knew of one case of this. So, it's not something that is a real problem. It's always a silly thing to do, who cares about your posts view count. I am a member that's had a couple dozen OP's with over 100 recs and a few with 10000-20000 views, but the view counts aren't impressive whatsoever, it's the content within in response to the OP we make. So for the member we're discussing, the content within their OP is about them being immature about taunting members here, so that's nothing to be proud of. If they find sick happiness in that, I'm glad I don't know them personally! What a lousy conversation they'd make!

I've seen instances over at "DU-3" where very sane, rational posts get no views and no rec's. Yet something that would have been seen as a "Lounge Post" or "Inappropriate" over here in the Old Days at DU-1 and 2 get tons of views and many Recommends and yet few people reply. Sometimes it's only 10 or so reply yet the post gets 50 or more Recs and over a 1,000 Views.

It does happen and it's always seemed odd to me.
