We essentially have now a non functioning branch of government
This is now officially a constitutional crisis. It is not fun. it is not what most folks think one is. Functionally it is different than Watergate and very close to the crisis of 1859.

But that is what we now have...

What is the Chinese Curse? Oh yes, may you live in interesting times.

Oh and it may very well be also the beginnings of the unraveling of the Empire. Realize if they close down the government there is no money for gas or bullets, or food. There is of course this little problem with social security checks, as well as road services, and interstate weights and measures.

Of course your postal service.

The list is very long.

But the crisis is here. And I predict this will be quite painful, and rating companies will pay attention to this VERY FAST.

And if you are gonna celebrate, do so before the reality of how ugly this could be comes crashing down.

There are days I wish I was not living this nightmare, but what the hell... the time to back off from online forums, and get busy with local survival is coming... like a freight train.

4. It is as hyperbolic as it was back in 1996 when they did
pull that trigger. Were you then a member of the armed forces, for example?

I know people who were and this is potentially far worst than that one. After all then they still wanted to work and COMPROMISE.

6. Do party until the reality comes crashing
right now they will do, perhaps, a continuing resolution until February... but will see,

Worst case, you won't be partying in six months if this goes for long.

10. They can just keep printing money, to me it's worthless
anyway it's all an illusion. As long as the things I need can be bought by the fake money then I'm good. If everything comes crashing down I'm ready for that also for a good while. Nothing you or I can do about it. No one wants to risk anything and for that they risk losing it all. :-)

11. This goes beyond money
I realize it is hard to understand how serious this potentially can be.

As I said, keep celebrating...

I know the effects of the last time this happened. It wasn't pretty. I suspect this wil be far worst. We had a good economy then. We don't right now.

19. The Senate just passed the worst and most dangerous tax bill in history

And you say they can't do a damn thing?

Wait until next year.

The bi-partisan budget cuts that will be proposed by the Senate and supported by President Obama.

yes, yes they did, since that was approved by elites.

But on things like keeping the guv'ment financed, you just wait.

They just agreed to work on and pass tomorrow a continuing resolution. No shutdown.

And even if this weren't the state of affairs, there was a shutdown in 1995. Somehow thinks kind of worked out (and that's putting it charitably).

Your dreams of crisis and revolution will (as always and forever will be) just that -- dreams.

17. As well as ignored
I wish some of these crowed bothered opening a history book.

You were probably a kid, but the dress rehearsal for this was 1996... and I fear this will make that look like a walk in the park. Yes the Rs lost that one in slow motion... but I expect them to dig their heels further this time.

24. You probably won't read this, since you say you put me on ignore.
Government is working just as the Constitution says. Congress is passing or not passing things, just as the Constitution says. The President is signing or vetoing bills, just as the Constitution says. The Judicial branch is deciding for or against Constitutional issues, just as the Constitution says.

You don't like what the three branches of government are doing. Neither do I. But they're following the Constitution and doing just what it describes that they should do.

If you feel like you're living in a nightmare, it may be good to shift your attention away from the government's actions for a while.

No, we are not in the midst of a Constitutional crisis. And you're repeating it over and over again doesn't make it so- though, sooner or later you'll end up being right.
