Wow - Martha Coakley was just on w/Dylan. Remember how
dismal she was as a candidate for MA Senator? She seemed pretty impressive today. She's one of the AG's going after the lenders/mortgage bankers. Saw Beau Biden (AG of Del) on this morning saying there are 50 who are on board with this! WooHoo!

1. we were just saying the same thing... she didn't want to campaign because it was cold and wet,

and she takes a Caribbean cruise vacation instead of campaigning... This one woman -- Martha Coakley -- prevented the POTUS from having a filubuster-proof Senate ...

4. She was such a bad candidate.
Bad candidates may not be bad people. But being successful in politics is just like being successful in any pursuit: you have to WANT the job.

10. I've seen her completely deny a cruise and called it a myth

Along with the comment about Curt Schilling and her not knowing he played for the Sox. She says it was meant as a joke. Anyone who watched Martha today and was surprised haven't been paying attention. She has always been like that.

19. Funny though, how she had a huge lead at the end of December
When she was saying she wouldn't vote for the Healthcare bill because of the restrictions on women. Then when she was made to change her view, it all slipped away from her.

The healthcare bill played a huge factor in that election, and everyone just wants to forget that part of it.

21. It was only "filibuster proof" on paper before that election, and would've remained so afterward.
The 60 votes needed to break a filibuster included the likes of Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, Kent Conrad, and the Senator from Likud.

5. She just assumed MA voters would be rational. But then again,
they elected Mitt Romney governor.

7. Wrong. She assumed the job was hers, and the election a mere formality.

I live in Massachusetts, and got to see the trainwreck that was Martha Coakley's campaign first hand.

Coakley is a good AG, but she was a dismal campaigner.

6. She made the mistake of assuming that MA voters are always
rational. But then, MA elected Romney governor.

9. There isn't a state in the country where a Democratic Senate candidate can
go on fucking vacation on the eve of an election.

That isn't a miscalculation that is hard core arrogance and an entitled mindset.

11. She seems much better as an AG
She might even make a decent governor some day. Or cabinet level prosecutor.

I don't think she was a good fit for the Senate and I think she knew it.

17. Maybe she like "judicial" more than being stuck in "Harry Reid's Senate." So Good for Her!
We need judicial more than legislative these days. The Legislative gets bought and paid for... But, a strong Dem on Judicial is worth it's weight in gold! "May the Wind be at Martha's Back" (old Irish saying)...if she keeps up what she's doing!

14. That's Martha
Happy she's my attorney general but disappointed she allowed her bid to replace Ted Kennedy to unravel. However, that was then and now is now.

As for republican governors, we've had a bunch of them. Maybe even more than Democrats. Yet, we're still Massachusetts. ;-)

15. She definitely seems better these days. Feisty and I'm hoping it's not "just for show"
...but, agree. She's better today than she was when she lost Teddy's Seat. But...that's more due to that Idiot Tim Kaine than anything else, IMHO...though.
