1. I like the new UI of DU3.

But I know people don't like change for some reason.

2. While looking for the place they moved my food dish to is

annoying, it's only temporary. I think I'll enjoy the jury system and I know the mods will, there will be a lot less butthurt when a post is deleted. I'll also like being able to delete my own posts when I realize I've just made a fool of myself a nanosecond after hitting "post." It will also be nice to have that editing feature permanent instead of having it expire after an hour, preserving your typos for posterity.

4. A vote for DU3

After a day of DU3 trials, the majority of complaints about the new DU seem to fall into three categories:

- General confusion - where is a certain function
- Renamed groups and forums
- The new 'mod' system - hosts, juries and the possibility of rampaging gangs running about the place locking posts

The first two - time will take care of them and in a few months DU2 will be history. The third? Simply democracy in action.

31. my mobile view sucks big time

When I click in a thread all the replies have vertical lines spaced about 1/8 in apart making it almost unreadable. Also the tables are narrower for the post titles.

9. The only thing I disliked about DU3 was the left hand column so I went to my profile and changed it

to classic style instead of the new one. Got rid of that nasty left hand column that added nothing but clutter.

Now it has the DU2 look but is just much cleaner and less cluttered feeling.

I like DU3 better with that simple self administered change. The fonts and overall look and feel of DU3 is just more esthetic to me.

15. DU 3, is to radical a change, so let go back to Clay Tablets, readable even without electricity.

Clay tablets, the ultimate way to preserve records. Don't have to worry about electricity to read them, Sunlight is good enough, Paper burns, computers crashes, but Clay Tablets last forever. Lets return to that indestructible method of record keeping.

On a serious note, it is a change, but only time will tell if DU3 is better then DU2. I see a lost of some features I like, but those are often the price we pay for any over all improvement. Paper, was subject to deterioration and being burned, but was a lot easier to move around then Clay Tablets, what you lost in permanency, you more then made up in move-ability. It looks like DU3 will do the same, what we lose will more then be made up in ease of use.

18. I think the clay tablets paragraph is goofy as hell and an arrogant way of punting on people's

concerns and ignores changes to format that segment and disperse dialog rather than anything to improve it which means change isn't an improvement but rather de-evolution.

Change is not always in the direction of progress and it is silly as hell to pretend so.

20. I realize that Skinner, EarlG and Elad put a lot of work and expense into this..but

I think that just like any attempt at a major overhaul of any project - sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't. I'm afraid that this time is more of the latter.

24. I don't want them to ditch the greatest page

I could get behind DU3, but I worry that ditching the rec system will make it more difficult to find the best posts. Usually the posts that make it to the top of the greatest page are great reads and when we don't have a lot of time to read we can always know that if we look at the top of the greatest page the top ten posts are usually worth reading. While I was skeptical of the unrec system at first it has worked very well at bringing us higher quality posts to the top of the greatest page without silencing controversy. I worry it will become far more difficult to find the must read posts if they eliminate the Greatest Page and DU will become just another message board rather than a place we can go to find high quality news and commentary.

I do wish they would keep unrec though, I think the quality of posts on the greatest page has improved significantly since it was instituted.

I was here for DU2 rollout, so I'm a bit sentimental about it. I will miss it.

27. The change from the original DU to DU2 was NOTHING like this complete DU overhaul. DU3

is NOTHING like DU2. While DU1 and 2 were very much alike with very minor changes. All they did on DU2 was add a few features, split some forums...nothing major. DU3 is a total different animal. Big Brother at its worst.
