Couples band together to help homeless
Couples band together to help homeless

LANCASTER -- For many who drive past Dave and Kellie Cornett's home in Canal Winchester, the white van sitting in the driveway most likely appears to be nothing more than that -- a van.

...

Every month, the Cornetts, along with Chris and Cindy Hanes of Reynoldsburg and about 15 to 20 volunteers, travel to homeless camps in Columbus to provide supplies and encouragement to hundreds of people who are struggling to make ends meet.

...

"You don't want to ask too many questions because, No. 1, their past may cause you to pass judgment on them and you're not there to judge them -- you're there to help them," Hanes said. "They're still human beings."

...

"I've found most people in this economy are a couple of paychecks away from being in the same position," he said. "So no one should be too quick to pass judgment."

3. If we don't help each other then who is going to help? The 1% sure isn't.
