burying it for more than a decade, to get at the 'liberals' and then try to control them? Obviously they are worried about OWS. So they use a sleeper word to access those people who may be independents, may have once upon a time self identified as liberal and may be curious about the 99%.

Anyone else see the word liberal suddenly used by the right - who never used to use the word?

3. Rush has been demonizing the word 'liberal' for 30 years.
Definition of LIBERAL
1
a : of, relating to, or based on the liberal arts <liberal education> b archaic : of or befitting a man of free birth
2
a : marked by generosity : openhanded <a liberal giver> b : given or provided in a generous and openhanded way <a liberal meal> c : ample, full
3
obsolete : lacking moral restraint : licentious
4
: not literal or strict : loose <a liberal translation>
5
: broad-minded; especially : not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or traditional forms
6
a : of, favoring, or based upon the principles of liberalism b capitalized : of or constituting a political party advocating or associated with the principles of political liberalism; especially : of or constituting a political party in the United Kingdom associated with ideals of individual especially economic freedom, greater individual participation in government, and constitutional, political, and administrative reforms designed to secure these objectives

It humors me to no end to point this out to conservatives and teapublicans. If they hate liberals, they must be for economic and political servitude.

Liberal is a "sleeper word"? LOL Surely you've heard of Limpballs, O'Lielly, Coulter, Malkin, Ingraham, Gellar (sp.), Beck, Hannity, et al. They've built lucrative careers based on ONE thing -- bashing liberals -- and certainly within the most recent 10 years (longer for some).

What a bizarre observation you've made.

6. Wear the label with a badge of honor.

"Big Labor" and "liberal" are no longer effective as slander as perceived by centrists.

America is waking up.

9. I do not watch those shows so I didn't know they use the term so often.

You barely see the word used on the DU and all of a sudden it it being used to denote a group of people. Maybe people who listen to limpballs are suddenly on the DU. Perhaps it is the bankers and such who have woken up and are posting.

8. Strike "conservative" from your vocabulary. The GOP is "fascist".
