Just saw police officer tell a woman who was watching the protesters that he would give her a summons if she didn't move of the sidewalk

Police telling bystanders they have to keep moving

3. Do the police know that they're actively recruiting for OWS?

Fascists just have no fucking imagination.

4. Is this a demo with a permit? Or an ad-hoc thing?
If the latter, expect a dust up, particularly if the sidewalk is blocked. Pedestrians need to be able to pass, and if they can't, that's all the excuse the police need to arrest.

Is this at Gracie Mansion? MB doesn't live there.

10. Wonder if he spent the weekend in Bermuda--he does that frequently.
When you're rich you can just pop down there on a whim...!

Bloomberg's townhouse mansion is in the center of a frozen zone.

9. Recent pics show it is the cops who have blocked off sidewalks, not protestors:

Civil rights attorney Norman Siegel is calling East 79th Street from 5th Avenue to Madison a "No First Amendment Zone" because it is blocked off to pedestrians.

"That's Mayor Michael Bloomberg's block -- his home is on the north side of the street on 79th."It's unconstitutional," said Siegel, who has been at the protests since 2 p..m. "They've made East 79th ... a 'No First Amendment Zone.' Last time I checked, the law doesn't say that people have the right to ... protest except when it's Michael Bloomberg's street."

"This shows that the police would rather protect Bloomberg," he said. "It's an overreaction."

Siegel said he will continue to fight the over-policing of Occupy Wall Street. "Are colorful? Yes. Are they engaged in violent and illegal activity? No," he said.

6. yes, you can't walk slow or stop to read the signs
since day one, they ask you to move off the sidewalk.

So its hard to take a picture or talk to anyone holding a sign. They are treating the sidewalk as if it meant to be some kind of walking freeway. Don't stand there and look around, enjoy the sun. It's ok if you stand on any other sidewalk in NYC, just not near protestors for some bizarre reason.
