Nude photo puts Egyptian activist in legal peril (at least)
An Egyptian activist is facing possible legal action after provoking controversy by posting pictures of herself wearing only stockings on her blog (WARNING: nude images) to protest at limits on free expression.

Aliaa Magda el-Mahdy, a 20-year-old university student, wrote on her blog that the images are "screams against a society of violence, racism, sexism, sexual harassment and hypocrisy".

Bikyamasr reports that the Coalition of Islamic law graduates have filed a case against Mahdy and her boyfriend, blogger Kareem Amer accusing them of "violating morals, inciting indecency and insulting Islam".

1. Freedom.. How the fuck does it work?
I must say that I'm shocked to hear that religious fundamentalists run Egypt's new government.

2. Scary. Tahir Square carried too many hopes and aspirations
to allow it to be taken over by those who would censor mere nudity with naked violence.

3. Poor little Allah!
...and insulting Islam
Wah! Wah! Our poor little skypixie and his perverted prophet is so fragile and sensitive that they need protection from those nasty liberals who, not only want freedom of thought but also the right to express those thoughts.

5. Perhaps, but that's not the photo in question anyway
There is a link to the image/blog site in the Guardian article. Ironically I didn't know if DU would censor nude images so I didn't inline it.
