The tax-exempt charity founded by Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State defensive coordinator charged with 40 counts of abusing young boys, paid him $456,000 from 2000 to 2008, according to Deadspin’s lengthy look at the organization’s federal tax filings.

The compensation was in the form of an annual consulting fee of $57,000 paid to Sandusky, Deadspin reported. He was paid more than some employees listed in the filing.

According to a statement on the Second Mile’s Web site, Sandusky informed the organization in November 2008, that “he had learned he was being investigated as a result of allegations made against him by an adolescent male.” Although he “maintained there was not truth to the claims,” the statement continued, the decision was made to “separate him from all our program activities involving children.”....

Separately, Moody’s Investors Service warned Friday that Penn State’s Aa1 bond rating could be downgraded because of the child sex abuse scandal.

3. ANd it could get worse. I saw a photo of him in college, he looked like

something that stepped out of a sports illustration - you can't find a more 1950s All American look. This whole thing reminds of the movie Blue Velvet which starts off with the smiling waving boy in a Disneyland rendition of small town America with no suggestion of the depraved underbelly that was about to be explored.

8. Why would anyone give to this charity with so many REAL ones around?

Sandusky got a half a million in five years? What did the other employees get? And for what? This organization didn't seem to have any purpose but to hook teens and pre-teens up with mature "mentors." Who gave all this money? And why?
