Growing up in Montgomery County Ohio in the 50's & 60's I remember that almost
Edited on Tue Nov-08-11 11:43 PM by county worker
everyone was a Democrat. People worked at NCR, Frigidaire, Del co, Chrysler Air Temp. Everyone had a job and a middle class lifestyle. Then the factories closed down, Ohioans helped to elect Reagan.

Tonight Montgomery County voted to support taking union rights away. It was 1 of about 4 counties that voted that way. I left there in 1982, moved to CA and never looked back.

5. Are you KIDDING me???
I, too, grew up in Dayton during the '60s and '70s. Almost every family on my block worked for NCR; I went to school with a lot of GM kids. It was said that if you got a job at either place, you were set for life, and it was true. I know of whole families who worked at either of the two places like it was an inheritance.

Wow. One of the counties in Ohio that can least afford to vote that way.

Very disappointing.

6. Seems to me that Montgomery County voted to repeal SB5 - 94,259 to 60,705
which is 60.8% to 39.2%, joining the rest of the state.

7. We could have those jobs back

if we are willing to enact small tariffs to offset the cost of worker health and safety, organized labor and environmental needs. And that is exactly what we should do. The American worker is competing with subsidized industry by every trading partner. It is totally unfair. If we aren't willing to enact tariffs we can kiss these manufacturing jobs goodbye forever.

Of course Ohio workers are going to have to wake up and demand that candidates reveal their position on these issues and vote accordingly. Voters are woefully uninformed.
