Pizza delivery guy calls cops on medical marijuana patient
Pizza delivery guy calls cops on medical marijuana patient

Aurora - A Colorado man who ordered pizza for his family after smoking medical marijuana got more than he bargained for when police arrived for a child welfare check after the delivery guy reported he was using the drug with children present in the home.

Frederick Smith of Aurora, Colorado spoke with 9News and said he feels he was harassed by the Papa John's employee who reported to police he smelled the strong odor of marijuana at the home when he made his pizza delivery.

Smith, who has a Colorado medical marijuana card due to chronic pain resulting from a bicycling accident, said he smoked a bowl of marijuana while his daughter was in the bathroom taking a bath, and then ordered the pizza pie online, pre-tipping the driver.

Shortly after the pizza was delivered, Smith told 9News, the Aurora Police Department pounded on his door. The police officers told him they were responding to a complaint by the pizza delivery guy. They did a routine check of the residence and questioned Smith, then left without filing any charges.

20. Not when their bosses condone and applaud their actions. And they should be told why people are
boycotting.

17. So the best caregivers for children are stoned?
I guess you're a member of the don't snitch brigade when it comes to children's welfare.

Would it be alright if he was driving up the wrong direction on the interstate at 20 MPH with the kids in the car, while stoned out of this reality?

19. uh, are they good caregivers when taking other prescribed medication? How about after one beer?
Edited on Sat Oct-08-11 01:39 PM by krabigirl
or are you advocating prohibiting those things when within, say, 50 miles of a child, too?

21. Funny how "good caregivers" never speak up about beer
What about the crack-head that just snorted a line (while his child was in the next room taking a bath) right before he opened the door to the pizza-guy?

Never know why some people think MJ is so .... evil.

32. I don't know, I've never seen a study of that

And I don't have a heart surgeon either.

But you mentioned driving (which wasn't going on in the story anyway), and that HAS been studied extensively.

perform better or worse while stoned.

Sure, they are only kids, and they will survive most things, I mean really now, they even eventually float in a swimming pool given enough time. of course the gasses build up, and make them smell a bit ripe, but screw 'em they only kids. As long as daddy or mommy can keep supporting the slaughter in mexico for a cheap buzz, all is good.

31. Not much into science are you?

Clearly you are not interested in a fact based conversation about much.

If you have a medical condition, quite often you will be prescribed drugs for that condition.

I have never in my life seen a parent who has been prescribed codeine for pain be asked to surrender their children.

Is that it? If anyone is prescribed any medication which some person on an internet forum thinks is going to make them put a baby in the microwave, then the children are in immediate danger.

Good God, just imagine what he was planning to do with that pizza.

Get a grip.

13. ??

This Papa John? We hear about him a lot in local KY news, but not in a political context.

(excerpt from Wikipedia)
Schnatter has made several donations to help boost the Louisville area. His business has the naming rights to Louisville's Papa John's Cardinal Stadium used by the University of Louisville's football team. On August 28, 2007, he made a $10 million pledge toward a stadium expansion.

Schnatter made a million-dollar contribution to the Louisville Zoo's Glacier Run expansion.<3> In addition to his major contributions his Calistoga Bakery sponsors a bike team and donated money to build bike trails.

On May 28, 2009 Schnatter was announced as Honorary Chair of the Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting Louisville's Norton Cancer Institute. Schnatter will be riding in the two day cycling event that goes from Louisville to Lexington and back.<4>

John Schnatter is a resident and owns about 6% of the land in Anchorage, Kentucky, including much of the city center. He restored an interurban rail station, three historic buildings and built a fourth in a similar style in the city's center, with plans to build a bank, an upscale restaurant, and a hiking trail, which opened as the Anchorage Trail in June 2008.

26. Not a police state.
A police state is when the government encourages, condones and even coerces people to rat on their neighbors. This doesn't even come close.

That being said, I know I would never have said anything to anyone else. Guy is in his own house, after all. I don't mind pot being illegal but, shit, what's up with the snitching thing? I guess delivering pizzas doesn't give one enough of a sense of self-esteem.

delivery people to report what they see? They suggested pizza people because they go to many houses and may see "evildoers".
