No Country for Old Women
I just got something to eat at the food court at the mall. I didn't have enough cash on me, so I used my debit card. The guy behind the counter pulled out a tablet-type device and swiped my card through the little slot on top. He had to tell me the thing was an ipad. Then he had to show me how to take my forefinger and use it to sign my name on the screen. I really am getting old!

1. Oh lord, is that something else new I have to learn? My apartment
building just opened up the computer room and it has wifi. Many are newbies to the computer and someone yelled out the other day "Go find somebody's grandkid." Place cracked up...LOL.

2. It may get worse. I got my debit card from
my bank 6 months ago and still have to be taken by the hand and led to the thingamajig. I recently was given a cell phone and still don't remember how to use it. I am thinking of giving it back.

3. Don't worry, you'll get it
My 90 y/o mother is out there on the internet and dealing with swiping her card and all that stuff. Had a cell phone for the last decade. She gets a bit forgetful but it only takes a hint to point her in the right direction. It helps when you have someone looking over your shoulder offering some advice. Hell I never had an ATM/debit card until '02. I had to live on a cell phone the last few years I worked but, thankfully, I don't have to deal with that anymore.
It's no sin to be a Ludite, in fact it feels pretty good most days. Technology is a wonderful thing when it works but it seems it never works when you need it.
