20. Jobs had a MASSIVE impact on our society and culture.
OWS may do that also. But it hasn't got there yet.

I'd be more concerned if she doesn't cover OWS at all ... but covering Jobs' death first makes sense.

27. Disagree.
There haven't been 20,000 people in the streets since what, the Iraq war protests nine years ago?

Ray Kroc and Sam Walton changed the world as well but I don't remember their deaths preempting large chunks of prime time TV.

But I'm sure a lot of people can't wait to get their hands on the iPhone 5. And the iPhone 7. And the iPhone 12. And...

I've never owned an Apple product myself and don't have any plans to.

Cult of personality bullshit.

Absolutely, recognize anyone who has contributed. I don't pretend to know the multifaceted relationships among those who invent and borrow and steal outright. But in my opinion calling someone you've never met a megalomaniac and dissing him on the day of his death is uncalled for.

41. Steve Jobs is the perfect juxtaposition to OWS.
It's the young person that starts a future mega corporation in his parent's garage compared to the youth who sit in front of Wall Street protesting that they can't find a job and have no opportunities.

Can do vs no can do.

We've lost the spirit that Steve Jobs embodied, yet it's exactly what we need to get this country going again.

I doubt he had much funding when was working out of his parents garage. He dropped out of college because it cost too much after all.

I guess this is a difference between us... You are inspired by young people protesting and I'm inspired by young people inventing things.

my FIL invented things but the corporation owned them--no rich guy there. The guy who made big bucks with the ball point pen, well his employee invented that. My friend's father invented the touch lamp, screwed again.

And some people just want to do what they do best, like my cousin who is a damn good electrician, he's been laid off. But, keep talking about the protests. You've been doing it so well.

83. Well, of course he changed the world.
Not necessarily for the better. Everybody just has to have the latest, shiny bauble! And pay dearly for it. Spend the day staring at screens of various sizes.
