You will be limiting many eye witness accounts as to how bad this Irene actually was. They are creating their own reality???

3. Maybe you are being paranoid, and if it's that bad
the destruction to buildings and other infrastructure will be quite visible just like it was in NOLA. I hope that these precautions don't take the human toll Katrina did.

4. There are many who did not
and a few... hopefully in single digits, will pay for that... decision.

7. At least two of those who died in NC
were NOT in the evacuation area.

So that is kind of heartless. Shit happens in big storms.

8. I guess I mean Irene was not as bad as they thought, and I am glad
But they will continue to try to scare the hell out of us.

11. I, for one, am happy my sister evacuated. Because of the hype.
She's extremely pregnant and the "hype" got her out of there. She could go into labor at any moment, and did not need to be a block from the beach.

12. You think they evacuated people because there is a conspiracy to hide how bad the hurricane is?
Who would gain from such a thing? What would be the point?

18. So they hype up a hurricane....
so authorities have to work almost round the clock and they have to spend millions getting people out just so they can hide how lame it was after they hyped it up?

Seriously?

13. Spoke to my daughter this morning...
As of then, the storm was predicted to be a Cat 1, but the media has been reporting it a Cat 3. She's on a NOAA ship, which has just been secured (is double tying secure??) in NYC off of Staten Island, I think. She's going to ride this out on the ship. She's been told they may be involved in rescue efforts if this is as bad as feared. Let's hope not.

15. No.. they don't evacuate people for reasons like that.
They evacuate people because letting them stay there could possibly result in the loss of their life.
