Chaz Bono to appear on Dancing With the Stars? Is this a good thing?
Edited on Fri Aug-26-11 11:23 PM by hlthe2b
Like most here, I feel very much in awe at Chaz Bono's courage and honesty in his journey to become the man that he always felt himself to be. But, will he be received with a warm welcome or hateful mocking ridicule? Knowing many of the audience for DWTS (Palinbots in particular), I fear the second. I wish him well, but I am apprehensive..... Anyone else?

Chaz Bono will be hitting the hardwood on the new season of "Dancing with the Stars."

Multiple sources connected with the show tell us ... Chaz has signed on and will be partnered with a female professional. Makes sense, because Chaz is legally a man ... baby.

2. He puts himself out there and at the same time educates people.
He knows he risks ridicule, and yet he does it anyway. I admire him so much for that.

15. Completely agree.
Through a work related group I know a really cool brave young colleague who identifies as male, and greatly admires Chaz and is grateful for the voice he has given his counterparts. Now he will be not only giving voice, but giving legs to acceptance and progressiveness.

Last I heard, my colleague was excited about going to a local gathering for FtMs only, and Chaz was slated to be there to speak and answer questions....and inspire

8. Hiding never accomplished anything
Chaz is an amazing guy and I bet he will do great! The more people see him and get to know a little bit more about him the more I think they will see him as human and normal and not some weird idea they had in their head.

10. He's actually disarmingly charming--very open, very settled in his skin.
He probably could stand to lose a few pounds, so this is a good thing for him. Also, he probably could use some cash, and they pay up to a quarter million per celebrity, plus an additional fee per episode--something between ten and twenty grand, and then they get even more the longer they can hang in there. If they make it to the finals, those are fifty grand a pop episodes (which explains the crying at elimination time).

The professional dancer-instructors associated with that program will do a good job, and pull out his strengths and minimize his weaknesses. They usually start training way before the first episode, learning basic steps and getting a modicum of fitness under their belt.

That show is a family favorite around these parts--it's one of the few programs where there isn't much griping and remote-grabbing!

12. Ok.. I'm convinced from all the comments that this will be good..
for Chaz and for the audience, who will hopefully learn from his example, what true courage, grace, and honesty are all about.

14. A lot of the comments on TMZ are horrid...
very personal and my guess have nothing to do with anything they actually know about Chaz. So, anyway glad he will be on the show, because these people will be haters whether he is or isn't on the show.

he makes it very far.

19. It's interesting casting
I know a lot of people who I wouldn't suspect of being so open minded who watched his show and ended up really liking the show and him. So you never know what type of reception Chaz may get from the general population. I hope that he doesn't receive cruel mocking.
