Global Warming Could Prompt Alien 'Preemptive Strike' on Earth
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/201142/20110820/global-warming-could-prompt-alien-preemptive-strike-on-earth.htm

Scientists studied several scenarios where earth might encounter extraterrestrial life, with the most alarming potential outcome being the total destruction of the planet to stave off humans polluting the rest of the galaxy.

Beyond endangering fellow-man, humans may pose a serious threat to the entire galaxy, according to a paper written by a trio of scientists dated in April and published in the journal Acta Astronautica.

"A preemptive strike would be particularly likely in the early phases of our expansion because a civilization may become increasingly difficult to destroy as it continues to expand," the study says.

"Humanity may just now be entering the period in which its rapid civilizational expansion could be detected by an ETI (extraterrestrial intelligence) because our expansion is changing the composition of the Earth's atmosphere, via greenhouse gas emissions."

I'm just not real pleased with the state of the planet at this moment in time.

3. Sounds like someone has seen the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still.
That doesn't look a thing like Patricia Neal:

8. This is probably the dumbest piece of claptrap science...
(1) The galaxy is a big place. Getting enough humans to another star to colonize another star would take centuries. We would then take centuries to develop that other world before it was endangered. Doing that to the entire galaxy would take more time than the lifespan of a species.

(2) Any species with the technology to project sufficient power to sterilize the planet of human beings would get rid of us without breaking a sweat. The whole invasions scenario is fun science fiction, but it is fiction.

(3) We are causing sufficient damage to the eccosystem, that the planet earth is likely to take us out just through natural processes. Aliens who have survived long enough to develop the type of technology that would allow them to come here, wold know and understand those processes and just put up a big quarantine sign, to be removed in a thousand years or so.

They're almost to late to prevent another football season, but if they hurry maybe they can get here before Thanksgiving.

16. I'm sure most alien species are controlled by special interest groups just like earth.
And I'm certain if they ever attack earth their leaders will "claim" that the attack is justified, while the real purpose will be for profit.

As a matter of fact, we're closer to being an asset as we're closer to destroying ourselves before we go galactic.

19. Global Warming??? How about the crap we send out via radio frequency???
As Carl Sagan pointed out 30 years ago, our broadcasts are going out at the speed of light, and the earth is the brightest thing in the radio frequency wavelengths of the spectrum in a hundred light years.

'The Jerry Springer Show', 'Jersey Shore', the various WWF programs -- things like that in and of themselves probably justify our destruction at the hands of an advanced alien race.

I mean, good grief, by just looking at planet Venus, 'their' imaginary aliens would have destroyed her a very long time ago...

Geez...

Hint: Venus is SURROUNDED by Greenhouse Gas...

This is so stupid, it boggles the mind...
