On the “Colbert Report” Tuesday night, host Stephen Colbert was hot tempered about climate change, joining conservative media outlets still skeptical of its findings.
As one of the hottest summers continues to unfold in America, Colbert focused on Rush Limbaugh’s constant assault on what he considers as “just another big media lie.” A few weeks ago, the controversial radio host said the high index was ‘manufactured by the government.’
“They’re playing games with us on this heat wave again,” said Limbaugh. “It’s going to be a 116 in Washington, no it’s not, it’s going to be like a 100. When is the last time the heat index was reported as an actual temperature, it hasn’t been, but it looks like they are trying to get away with it now.”
Colbert responded in full agreement.
“Rush is right, the high index is just more big government numbers telling you how hot to feel,” the Comedy Central host said. “Just like their time index tell you how sleepy to feel. Oh it’s midnight here, but it’s 9 in LA, which is it President Obama? I don’t have to go to bed.”
Limbaugh wasn’t the only person who shared similar views Colbert highlighted. The host of “Fox and Friends,” in their skepticism of “global warming,” targeted Nickeloden and its top show “Spongebob Squarepants” with the episodes of the cartoon ‘pushing a global warming’ in co-host Steve Doocy’s mind. Suffice to say, Colbert was also concerned about the network’s impact on kids.
“Yeah, this is even worse than when they pushed alternative lifestyles with Dora the Explorer.”
