CLEVELAND (Reuters) - Police on Monday identified Michael Hance as the gunman in a shooting rampage in Copley Township, Ohio that left Hance and seven others dead.
A neighbor said Hance, 51, was the long-time boyfriend of a woman who was shot in the attack but survived. The dead included an 11-year-old boy and two high school students, officials said.
"Mike was a very strange character," said Carol Eshleman, a neighbor and friend of the victims, regarding Hance. "Mike was very troubled." She said Hance "had a temper."
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. local time Sunday, when police dispatchers received calls reporting gunshots.
Hance, who had no prior criminal record, was shot by police.
