Westboro Baptist Church Plans To Picket At Norway Funerals
The Westboro Baptist Church, a radical religious group from Kansas, announced in a press release that it intends to picket the funerals of the victims of the Norway massacre. "Norway must repent or perish," the document reads. "WBC will picket at the funerals of the Norway dead to warn the living: they died for your sins."

1. Haha, they are idiots. EU is not as tolerant of intolerance as we are.
I'd be shocked if Norway doesn't arrest them on some anti-hate laws.

6. Not me.
I hope they pass through just fine, only to be detained while there for an indeterminate amount of time. Maybe then they'll think twice.

3. Will they need visas?
I wonder if Norway has liberal free speech laws, or if they have some sort of "Don't Upset The Communal Good" type ordinance on the books. The cops in Norway don't sound too welcoming....

A chief of staff with the Oslo police district, Johan Fredriksen, told NRK that “if they go through with what they are threatening, I can only certify that this is one of the worst ideas in the world at the moment.” Fredriksen went on to say that “normal thinking people do not think in such a way,” adding that he does not think “they deserve more attention.” While Fredriksen himself said he “had a problem with taking this seriously,” he nonetheless promised that the police would “manage to take care of it” if the threats were followed through. “These statements confirm that humans are the world’s most complicated construction, this is beyond any common sense and we have problems with relating to it,” Fredriksen concluded.

The Westboro Baptists received widespread attention in Europe after a BBC documentary, produced by famous documentary maker Louis Theroux, followed the church’s protests and interviewed a number of its members. The documentary, called “The Most Hated Family in America,” also aired on NRK in Norway. The interest in Norway around the church led one Norwegian, Laura Knarvik, to undertake a school project on the group, after which she has regularly received propaganda from the church. Knarvik told NRK that the group thinks “they are the world’s real Christians,” but she is not sure whether they have contacts in Norway that can help arrange the planned trip.

needs to lock them up and lose the key.

5. I wish people would just ignore these idiots...
They are really worthless little slugs and there aren't actually even very many of them.

If people would just ignore them for a few months they'd go away.

8. For US citizens, no visa required for up to a 90 day stay.
However, I'm sure that their customs/immigration people will question them closely if they show up at an entry point. If they answer truthfully, they will be denied entry. If they lie, they'll be preemptively arrested and deported if they attempt ANY sort of protest.

They're just looking for some media attention. There's no way this will happen.

14. Yeah, but that's for "tourists," right? These asswipes aren't tourists!
They'd be travelling there on nefarious business! Of course, Norway, like any other nation, can refuse them entry for any reason--they aren't obligated to admit them at all.

9. Do they say that they are actually going to Norway to do it? Is it just as likely the press release
is a publicity stunt and they plan to "picket" the funerals at home?

...and low and behold, they're claiming that they want to travel there.

HAHAHA

Please let them do this.
