Am I the only one physically exhausted, not just mentally?
Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 03:51 PM by Sarah Ibarruri

I'm seriously tired. I don't want to fight anymore. I feel that I'm the only one interested enough in defending the least able, the only one who was interested enough in keeping our jobs here in the U.S., the only one interested in enough in taxing corporations and the mega-rich legitimately, the only one interested enough to get herself out there.

I see politicians engaging in a game of pretense, Dems in-fighting, and churches being among the most evil entities in the U.S. today.

I feel worn out and sick all the time.

It gets a little better if I take a long weekend and keep the news off.

such a weak president, he is almost a non-entity. No vision, nor force, no leadership, just someone who appears once in a while to make a speech and then disappears. No wonder Democrats are suffering so much, the GOP has an open goal to strike at all the time, the quarterback is missing...

38. Well, and I know you don't really want to hear this, but get used to it.
Not really "kosher" to say this on here, but "strong" presidents who stick up for the people and try to defang corporations take dirt naps in Arlington. Corporations vet every candidate from minute one. They don't play ball, they don't get funded. This is how "messiness" is avoided nowadays.

You're never going to see a President Howard Dean or a President Sherrod Brown.

Corporations and the wealthy would seriously prefer no Democratic presidents EVER.

I mean, what do you want me to tell you, life's fair?

This is the price Americans pay for not being brave people. They couldn't even think for one second what life would be like if they had no house, no possessions, no car, no job . . . in other words, nothing at all left to lose. We expect everyone else to do the fighting and hard work FOR us. We don't protest. We're afraid of police. We're afraid of being seen in the wrong place because we'd lose our jobs, and in turn, our health insurance.

We shudder to think what life would be like if we became one of, or less than, the "have too littles" that the TV keeps yapping about.

Therefore, they just go along, and vote along, to get along.

Americans participate in this dog and pony show called life because it's all about survival now. There isn't any notion of wanting real change.

If Barack Obama's election means anything, it's that the Plutocracy is now exposed in all it's ugly, wrinkled, hairy dangle-dongle old-white-man nudity.

They bought them. They bought them all. And your price just doubled.

I seriously don't even wonder any more about the notion of "how much longer Americans are going to take this".

"Our President Sucks! I'm voting for the other guy/not voting at all!" :eyes:

The whole system is corrupt from hair to sole.

That's the problem.

11. No, you are not the only one...
They have been battering us for years-
It is only logical that we are exhausted and sickened
by the toxic waste dump calling itself our government.
Take a bubble bath.
Sip some wine and sleep as much as you can.
Sleep helps restore your body and sanity- especially
if you are depressed, as I think we all are by now.

I have slept SO much this week and am not one bit ashamed of it.
I think we are all suffering PTSD to some degree.
Those of us who have been in the pit for over a decade, in particular.

I actually feel pretty good today- but I think it is because I have
come to accept "what is" and stop hoping for "what should be."

I can't recommend sleep strongly enough- it will allow your body and mind
to renew and regroup.

20. How do you feel about asking your doctor for some help?
Due to a series of events- our current political farce included,
as well as dealing with a family member's illness- I started having
full blown panic attacks and sleep disorder.

He gave me a very low dose of an anti anxiety medication and
I have NO trouble sleeping now. No side effects and I wake up
feeling refreshed and ready to do the things I need to do each day.
I was too depressed and stressed out to function before I asked for help.

I would go insane without my sleep cycle.

35. Depression and anxiety are the snake devouring its' tail.
Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 04:37 PM by BeHereNow
Treat one and you have a chance of licking the other.
I find that with adequate sleep, my depression lifts- a little.
Sometimes I take something to help with that too.

You can discuss these things with a doctor- if you don't have insurance
or a regular GP, visit a clinic. Some communities have excellent
low cost facilities. For how much longer, who knows?

I can't take SSRI drugs, nor would I as I don't trust the research.
Too many settled cases with SSRIs.

However there are great "mood elevators" on the market.
My rule is I never take anything that has been on the market
less than ten years.

Not interested in "free samples" or being used as a lab rat.

Don't be afraid to get some help- it can improve the quality of your life
enormously and doesn't mean you will need it forever- just help yourself
get through this period of time which has affected SO many people, health wise.

Be good to yourself.
TPTB hate when you do that.

22. You nailed it- it's over saturation of abuse and shock.
Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 04:03 PM by BeHereNow
Ever since the SCOTUS handed the country over to the BFEE,
we have been literally battered on a daily basis with outrageous
abuse and neglect with absolutely no consequence ever reaching the
perpetrators and criminals committing crimes against all humanity.

It's no wonder we are in shock, depression, anxiety-
no different than a dog chained to a porch with little food or water,
who is beaten mercilessly on a daily basis for year after year with no rescuer in sight.

At some point, that poor soul will become ill, mentally, spiritually and physically.

We are all that dog.
And our so called government is the master inflicting the
horrific abuse on a daily basis.

30. I'm about this close to saying that both sides are one. However...
the reality is that one side is Nazi-like and aims at creating a world of a few to-dos and the rest slaves to serve those assholes, and the other side is busy kowtowing to the Nazi ones constantly. In exchange for what? A lot of the poor and middle class kowtow in exchange for churchy bullshit, although what appeal there can be in American churches (which are nearly all right wing) is beyond me. I find nothing spiritual in American churches. They are the right arm of the Nazi pigs GOP and their ignorant branch, the baggers.

The rest kowtow because they love to get a pat in the back for throwing themselves and the neediest under the bus.

It's so incredibly stupid and servile. I'm sick of them. On both sides.

Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 04:27 PM by Avalux
The media and commercials are geared to those who 'have', while those who 'have not' suffer without any representation or recourse.

The NEWS is not news, the news is a gigantic commercial to brainwash everyone into thinking a certain way that is not based in reality.

Sometimes, late at night the siren sound of low tax rates call to me...

I can't help but think because of Suburbs and economic segregation, the poor are out of sight and so easy to dismiss.

Time was in small towns and big cities, the people all had to mingle. You saw the struggles, you were there for the tragedies.

Now with hundreds of channels on the tube, you can pretty much go through life never exposed to those less fortunate than you....

It is easy to get overloaded with this stuff. And it becomes frustrating because there's not much you can do do change it.

Take a break -- as long or short as necessary -- and enjoy the summer and focus on your own life. It's the best way to not let it get overwhelmning.

45. Unrelenting stress for decades. Destroys the adrenals.
Because of environmental chemicals and increased auto-immune disorders, more and more people have endocrine/glandular problems.

There are more people with low or high thyroid problems, than there are people with diabetes. But you don't see any pressure groups on TV, talking about the millions of people with thyroid problems.

Seems like everyone has adrenal exhaustion and doctors ignore it. My doctor ignores it and he's been my internist for 25 years.

Adrenal exhaustion is that feeling of "I can't deal with people anymore. I can't get up and face the public."
That's how it felt to me. A dead thyroid, to me, feels like, "All I want to do is sleep".
