Lay out a scenario for how a 14th amendment option would work
Not just how Obama would do it. That's easy. Tell me what the fallout would be, would it trigger impeachment, would the Supreme Court stick their little fingers in it, and if so what then.

1. Congressional repubs would shout dictatorship, and start impeachment hearings.
Which would, of course, go nowhere.

A case would be filed in the courts which would wend its way slowly up. It will be rendered moot by a subsequent congress passing a debt ceiling bill.

In short the fallout would be; "the economy didn't implode".

2. That's what we refer to as an unknown quantity
He would just have to do and roll with the punches. But as for this impeachment talk I don't think that would have a snowball's chance in hell.

4. Fall out would be that Congress becomes intransigent and utterly unworkable
(kinda like they are now but more bitter).

Yes, it will trigger impeachment but in my opinion, the Rethugs would have manufactured an excuse to start proceedings anyway. I firmly believe they are prepared to derail this President any way they can. If nothing else, it will then put a magnifier on Hillary Clinton's accusation of a vast right wing conspiracy to take down Dem presidents (and she was right).

SCOTUS is bought and paid for by the Chamber, big Corporate, and the rest of the financial elite. The big 5 will be given their marching orders by the powers that be, and told to refuse the case. The financial elite do NOT want a default.....

6. No point. We need a credible fiscal plan or we get downgraded anyway.

7. The rethugs will attack him but just imagine what a hero he will be
to those who understand that he put his whole career on the line to keep the US from defaulting on its loans and especially to keep the social security checks etc coming. It is all in how you frame it.

8. What about the feasibility of the President writing an executive
order ruling that the debt limit law was invalid? nt

10. The fallout is that it wouldn't work
Who's going to buy debt of questionable legality?

No serious investor is going to risk buying debt instruments that might be rendered worthless in a subsequent court ruling.

11. I don't think he can do it. I think it would be up in front of the
SCOTUS in a special session and they'd place a permanent injunction on it. Everyone seems to forget the SCOTUS. Three equal branches of government, each of which can cancel the actions of the others. Would there be an impeachment? Maybe, but the action would be blocked and reversed almost immediately. The SCOTUS can call itself into session to consider something like this, and the House would file instantly. Such cases do not go through the lower courts. It's all in the Constitution.

There is no way President Obama invokes the 14th Amendment successfully, I'm pretty sure.
