News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch in the past has called Ohio Gov. John Kasich a friend and has personally donated to his political campaign.


As the scandal surrounding News CorpbizWatch . and media mogul Rupert Murdoch grows wider, Ohio Democrats are looking to throw Republican Gov. John Kasich’s name into it.

Ohio Democratic PartybizWatch Chairman Chris Redfern on Wednesday sent a letter to Kasich, writing that “perhaps no public official in America has benefited more, both personally and politically, from News Corp.” The media conglomerate and parent of Fox News, a former employer of Kasich’s, is embroiled in a rapidly developing scandal over phone-hacking and other dubious practices at the now-shuttered News of the World tabloid that some speculate could shake up the leadership future at News Corp.
