So is the new theory that Obama offered major cuts to Social Security and Medicare benefits
and the genius Boehner turned him down?

The brilliant Boehner walked away from a deal that would have potentially caused Obama major headaches, saving the President from himself.

Boehner rejected the very thing Republicans were after. He could have walked away a winner, but instead simply walked away.

Is this the theory?

Thank God for Boehner?

2. Either that or the rhetoric about giving away Social Security and Medicare
was just that rhetoric and nothing more.

Don't know what to believe anymore, the propaganda in this country is so strong, makes it difficult.

3. Wel....I think Obama offered a BIG DEAL knowing up front
Boehner would never be ble to accept it. You see, that's what everyone meant by playing chess. Obama made it LOOK like he was even willing to abandon his own Psrty to get a deal done, and the ones who look REALLY BAD are Boehner & the tea partiers! I Still think this was his plan all along.

Or do you disagree?

9. His parties hatred for Obama is my guess.
You would have to ask him to know for sure. I think Obama knew they wouldn't take the offer and it would throw them off their game. Just imo.

8. Why is Obama using SS and Medicare as the kitty in the poker game?
Why is SS and Medicare even on the table? Why isn't Obama standing up for the poor, needy, sick and elderly? The gov has stolen the money from SS for war and everything else and now that it needs to pay it back they want to reduce it. Evil savage scum bags!

11. It was a trap that Boehner finally figured out would cost him his seat as Speaker of the House.
If he accepted the Big Deal, the Democrats in the House would have voted against it because the Democrats in the Senate would vote against it.

Democrats do not vote against Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid.
Not real Democrats, anyway.

We can't get all of the Blue Dawgs out of the Democratic party, but even they have to support the Big 3 federal programs.
The American people support those programs wholeheartedly, and overwhelmingly.

Boehner missed his one and only chance to vote to cut the Social Security budget that he will ever get in his whole miserable life!!!
He is the worst Speaker of the House, because he will never ever be offered a deal like that ever, ever, ever again!!!!

That's what happens to ideologues.

good Golly Molly. How will that be written beyond your twisted logic. Obama accepts a Republican premise and starting point. There is no rope a dope. There is no gotcha. He is letting the opposition frame the damn debate, and playing defense. We have endured playing defense for 10 plus fucking years.

We Won!!! Obama caved on himself!!! He offered a deal, and luckily the Republicans had the good sense to ignore all that "rope a dope" nonsense and reject it!

We Won!!! Yay!

16. Excuse me, is there an airport nearby large enough for a private jet to land?
We are the losers in this conversation; the untouched wealthy are looking for an airport to land their jet, chuckling all the way to the bank to pick more free golden sacks of money.

Edited on Fri Jul-22-11 07:18 PM by ProSense
Cutting entitlements also means eliminating waste and acheiving other savings.

Did he say he was going to cut Social Security and Medicare benefits?
