MN Republicans imploding? Well, they are a mess....
Special interest groups and the party itself are making it impossible for the state legislature to deal with the budget - because the legislators are more concerned with their party standing than doing their jobs. I thought the people told their legislators how to vote......

"Abortion may derail budget agreement: "A representative of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life told reporters that he now questions the pro-life credentials of GOP leaders and told Republican legislators to vote no on any budget agreement that does not ban abortion."

"MCCL had also sent a letter to Republican legislators urging them to vote against the agreement being drawn up between Dayton and Republican leadership.....The Catholic church is also insistent that any budget solution include bans on abortion and some types of stem cell research."

http://minnesotaindependent.com/84648/abortion-politics-threaten-to-again-derail-budget-agreement

I wonder if pledges to MCCL were signed in addition to the Norquist pledges....
Signing pledges is the ultimate in arrogance – “I know all I need to know”- and the ultimate betrayal of the oath to serve the people of the state to the best of their ability – they serve only the source of the pledge. But people are starting to get it - Seeing more anger building against Republican reps in comments on a number of state news websites.

1. 2012 is just around the corner. Minnesotans will remember.

And those who don't will get reminded numerous times. This strategy by the GOP is moronic, just like the crop of new Freshmen in the state legislature.

3. Yes it is. Which is why I'm hopeful that we'll be able to reclaim
control of Congress, too, in 2012. If we all work to make it happen, it will. If we don't, it probably won't. The choice seems simple to me. I'll be working toward that goal. Not here on DU, where it's all preaching to the choir, but on the ground where it matters.

I hope everyone else on DU will join that work party. We need every hand we can muster.

8. Yes. And that's all the job of the local party organization.
That's where the work gets done, in each precinct and district. And it gets done by individuals who are willing to work to talk to voters in their own area. That works. It works better than money and TV ads and anything else in a campaign. I've seen it work for decades in the precincts and districts where I've lived. But, it requires that intelligent, friendly, reasonable people get out there and do the hard work of convincing people not only that Democratic candidates will be the better choice, but that everyone needs to go to the polls and vote.

In 2010, in my own precinct, we had an overall turnout of 60%. Every Democratic or DFL-endorse candidate on the ballot in that precinct won, and won with a 60% majority. Every single one. From the county attorney to our congressional representative and state rep and senator.

I was the only person in the precinct organization who actually walked the precinct, and I walked every block of it at least three times. I knocked on every door, spoke to every person I could find. It didn't take that many hours actually. Precincts are small.

to get in touch with for you.

Email this guy. He's the district DFL chair. That should get you started:

If Scalito and Antonina had strokes that would make them zombies, the GOP would keep them on, even if you could see the puppet strings.

Am I indignant about that? No, as long as he wakes up long enough to get the job done.

How about another excellent grammar lesson - have you done "affect" vs. "effect" yet? Or "couldn't care less" vs. "could care less" (a pet peeve of mine)?

hell do these radical minorities run the state and the country?

12. All I want to know is, why do I have to pay sales tax when the govt is shut down??
Funny how they shut down only the parts that are convenient for them but not that parts that would hurt them.

I was in Minnesota for the past week and couldn't use any of the rest areas while traveling. Why the hell should I be paying sales taxes while I'm there if the rest areas are closed? Where does the rest area funding come from? If the expendatures are shut down the revenue should be shut down too, otherwise it makes even less sense.

22. yeah...see, I don't get it. There should be a class action lawsuit, where if the govt is shut down
then we don't pay for their services. That would end these stupid fear tactics once and for all.
