The New York State Legislature has failed to act...
...on the Sweet Corn bill. While the Senate bravely voted on this important designation of a State Vegetable, the Assembly has failed to follow suit, and time is running out before the Legislature adjourns for the summer.

Oh, and there are some other bills they haven't gotten to...

1. well that is very important. How can we be a serious state without a state vegetable
designation! What a laughingstock! We won't be able to show our faces at the family reunion.

4. So, then, you would inflict the Black Dirt Onion on the State of New York (motto: Excelsior!) ?
Have you no decency?

8. It's a grain.
It should be the state grain. And it's very, very appropriate that corn would be the symbol chosen by a political body. ;-)
