and Expanding Medicare.

Finally someone has taken the initiative to start the fight against the Corporations,
beginning at the grassroots level. I expect the way to be long and tough, but the
journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.

Announcing the Campaign to End Corporate Rule!

Under the leadership of Doug Ballard, Stephen Spitz, and a group of ambitious PDA members, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Campaign to End Corporate Rule (ECR), which serves to bind together our issue work, form new alliances with other organizations, provide tools and resources for community and legislative advocacy, and help build the progressive people's movement. In this era of budget cuts, the campaign is starting off by focusing on corporate welfare. And, with the 46th anniversary of Medicare rolling around in July, now is an opportune moment to highlight a serious flaw in Medicare Part D, which allows drug corporations to set the price of prescription drugs instead of allowing the government to use bulk-purchasing power to negotiate for lower prices.

We are asking you to sign the Petition to End Corporate Welfare and Expand Medicare. By closing this no-negotiation loophole, taxpayers—and Medicare—will save one trillion dollars in ten years. Please sign the petition and ask your friends and family members to sign it, too. You'll find news items, resource materials, and actions you can take on our Campaign to End Corporate Rule Web page.

Join us here if you are interested in working on the campaign: Develop new actions, build alliances, research and create resource materials, and fight for people-based policies. Time and again, whether we are seeking sensible healthcare, environmental, economic, or foreign policy—supported by a majority of Americans—we hit a barrier, because corporate lobbyists and donors have managed to get between our legislators and us.

This campaign will tear down that wall brick by brick, if necessary, so good policy becomes public policy. Help us get off to a good start by signing the petition!

Yours in the movement,

Tim Carpenter for PDA

1. Well, hopefully 'ending corporate welfare' means we stop borrowing money
...and handing it out to the rich.

2. Well, eventually that will have to stop.
At some point, the rest of us won't be able to support any more borrowing.

4. What they are really doing...
republicans are stealing ALL of the money. Not just all the money that exists now, but all the money way into the future. Their greed is absolute.
