CHARLOTTE, N.C - Investigators say a US Airways employee stowed away on a flight from Tampa International Airport, to Charlotte-Douglas Airport, then boarded a flight inside the terminal in Charlotte to Pittsburgh.
Sources tell NewsChannel 36 that it looks like the man, a mechanic, set up in what insiders call the "hellhole" of the tail area of the Boeing 737 from Tampa. A source shared a picture of that part of the plane in question that shows a carpet and pillow left behind. It is not clear how a person could have survived the 510 mile flight from Tampa, Florida to Charlotte in that unpressurized area of the plane.
Once in Charlotte, we're told the man got out onto the tarmac, and went inside the terminal where investigators in Pennsylvania confirm he used an employee ticket to board a flight to Pittsburgh.
