3. It is not against the law for a congressperson to talk to 17 year olds.

She sent him a direct messages to tell him that she was being harassed by folks on Twitter due to her following him on Twitter.
He replied to her message.
There is nothing illegal or inappropriate about that.

And we all already know that FoxNews had reporters at the girls home BEFORE the police arrived there.

Yes, FoxNews folks are assholes - but this should not be pinned on Weiner, in this instance he did nothing wrong.

It did not start with her sending him a direct message about being harassed by folks on Twitter.

It started with him sending her a private message unsolicited.

From the NY Times:

The girl’s contact with Mr. Weiner started in early April, after her trip to Washington. The congressman spoke to her school group, and she began following him on Twitter, posting a public message saying how much she liked his speech.

...what the hell's the harm??? Good Gravy! In THIS day and age, parent's should be EXTRA vigilant of their kids electronic messaging of ANY sort. And not just by asking the little darling if they're being good! DEMAND access to their accounts on threat of shutting them down or else. If YOU'RE paying the bills and providing clothes, shelter and whatnot, you have a RIGHT to know what trouble that darling little gift is trying to get theirselves (and possibly you, as well) into.
