To all trolls. This is how you are brainwashed.
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 10:53 AM by Maraya1969
I turned on Fox and Cavuto started by saying how the country was in such bad shape and said the White House was imploding and blah blah, and there was a picture of the White House behind him in the background and then he says in the same run on sentence:

"BUT Tim Pawlenty says he has the answer to the problem...."

If you change "says" to "has" you have a TV host who you trust telling you that the government is imploding and a Republican named Tim Pawlenty, (or insert any Republican name) can save you.

A lot of people have the news playing in the background. They could easily hear this as "has" or even if they don't hear the "has" it is implied.

That is one of the many ways they get you believing that purple is red. This is how some TV sellers get you to buy useless things. This is why you think cutting taxes will increase the number of jobs in our country.

Edit: Took off the stuff about MSNBC because it hurts my little friend below.

5. But MSNBC actually IS showing CRAP right now
I know because I am one of the smart ones who sees exactly what's going on and on MSNBC right now what's going on is CRAP.

Maybe they should change their call letters on weekends (and for 3 hours of Mourning Joe every weekday morning) from MSNBC to MSCRAP.

9. That is surely what I am hoping for
Get everyone from MSNBC worth getting over to Current TV then write MSNBC a do not resuscitate order because then it's only a matter of time.

10. I hope not. I really like the night line up now. Not that I didn't like Keith, I did.
I get a real kick out of Lawrence O'Donnell. Last night he went on and on about how Trump can't have that much money since he said he had to "take the money" instead of run for president. Apparently if he has to keep his job as a reality show host he doesn't make that much money.

11. You can't get MSNBC if you have Dish network I think. MSNBC would have an even
larger audience if they would just pay for their station to be broadcast on all the satellite and/or cable companies.

Consider this too when comparing Fox's ratings with MSNBC. Fox is available on a lot more TV's than MSNBC.

6. "says" vs. "has" - I like the way you suggest how association occurs.
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 11:59 AM by patrice
There are these kind of general cognitive functions: people are listening or watching, as you described; they hear about two things, problems bad + Pawlenty good; most media consumers will not drill down and differentiate between "says" or "has" and, even if some do, they probably will not go deep in evaluating the justifications and validity of either saying such-and-such or for having such-and-such a "solution".

There's this sort of fuzzy logic that allows us to focus or not, so all that is necessary, in order to get certain desired effects, most of the time is to get into the ball-park.
