Saw the two most horrific bumper stickers on a truck last night.
Edited on Fri Jun-10-11 01:06 PM by arbusto_baboso
The first read "Only a Liberal could make a terrorist a Victim". The second said, "Pro-Torture: Time to make terrorists cry".

I was too stunned by the extreme hatred and ignorance displayed by this "human" to do anything other than stare at him as I pulled up next to him at the light. Naturally, he looked as hateful and stupid as his bumper stickers.

And it occurred to me:

1) Wasn't it the "marxist fascist socialist Kenyan" who actually ordered the op that killed Bin Laden?

2) What part of "we're the good guys BECAUSE we don't torture, and if we torture then we're no longer the good guys" do you not understand?

3) Can you point out to me EVEN ONE piece of actionable intelligence produced by torture?

4) Did we respond to German and Japanese atrocities by torturing them when captured, or did we hold trials?

5) How does insisting on basic rights for an ACCUSED terrorist make him a victim?

And many, many other things that I'm still too agitated to fully articulate.

This is the kind of violent-minded, bigoted idiot we're fighting against folks. Good luck to us. We're gonna need it...

12. Saw this back in the early '90s - wish I had camera:
Car 1 with bumper sticker: My kid can beat up your honor roll student.

Car 2, parked next to Car 1: One day your kid will call my honor-roll student "Boss."

4. Unfortunately
The likes of our friend in the truck aren't confined to the usual environs of the political spectrum, either.

6. You have an ex-president and ex-vice-president running
around saying they tortured, would do it again, glad they tortured, and they saved the world because they tortured.
You have a president that will not bring these people to justice for whatever reason.
So the question is: Why should anyone think torture is not okay?? ......... just asking

11. ' BASIC HUMAN DECENCY maybe'
No maybe about it ......... torture is wrong .... it is an act of frustration and power

However, if you look at the actual policy of this country by their refusal to bring war criminals to trial they condone it.
It is no different than a rich banker getting caught stealing $60 million and having to pay it back and serves no time in jail.
But if you rob a woman of her purse you get 3-5 years. All the words in the world do not back up the policy of this country.

10. "I am not a Republican"
Just to highlight bumper stickers from the other side of the aisle.

Saw this one a couple of months ago on a van. It tickled me! So succinct and matter-of-factly; so quick to disassociate themselves from the GOP.

They were waiting in the left-turn lane as I pulled up on their right to go straight. I gave them a thumbsup as I passed by and stopped at the red light. They got their green arrow first and waved as the passed by (they must have seen my DU bumper sticker on my car).

But their sticker tickled me...kinda of like having a bumper sticker that reads, "I am not an ax murderer."

13. I like that one!
I am currently looking for some bumper stickers to replace my "Conway for Senate" sticker I left on waaaaaaay after Rand Paul beat him in order to show I was NOT one of THEM (the majority of my state with very sore knuckles).

14. I think it is nice when the crazy people self identify in that manner.
Lots of people who believe that kind of crazy stuff often don't have the common decency to let you know long before you meet them. This guy is telling you UP FRONT, "I'm nuts".

Personally, I like it when the crazies tell me which kind of crazy they are ... for instance, I smile whenever I see a car with a Confederate flag displayed. Not because I like that flag, but because racists can be very hard to spot. And so it is nice when the self-identify.

Much of your OP is looking for logical approaches to engaging this person, which in many ways is admirable ... but you should FORGET THAT, and simply be glad that this crazy person gave you amble reason to avoid interacting with them at all.
