Maddow to Letterman: ‘Weinergate’ is ‘more gossip than news’
Source: RawReplay:
By David Ferguson
Categories: Featured, Nation
Rachel Maddow brought some much-needed perspective to the salacious mess that the ‘Weinergate’ story has become on last night’s “Late Show with David Letterman’. She discusses the distinction between Weiner and politicians like James Ensign and David Vitter, who preached “Family Values” while carrying on extramarital affairs of their own. Letterman admits that he “may not be the best person” to discuss matters of sexual morality and marital fidelity, but says that in his opinion Weiner’s actions call into question the Congressman’s judgment.

1. Rachel is one of the most classy people in the media
I love her, never miss a moment when she is on TV.

2. This man has done SO MUCH GOOD that outweighs this failing
and the day I jump on the bandwagon with Rance Priebus and Andrew Bteitbart against a fearless unapologetic true progressive in Congress -- one of the very few -- somebody shoot me. In a legislature drowning in Republicans and Blue Dogs, we can't have too much Anthiny Weiner.

3. I'm really disappointed in Rachel for saying that
I would think, of all people, she would understand that Weiner's behavior was an abuse of his public trust, and that sexting young women who were interested in his politics but themselves initiated no suggestive comments, is just plain abusive.

As a woman, I'm shocked that this kind of unconsensual behavior is condoned. A private affair, a visit to a prostitute, those are fine with me, because they are consensual and outside one's public life. But to use political followers on your public Twitter account as your own personal come-on hit list: to me, that is vile.
