Taxpayers Get BILKED For Sarah Palin’s DIVA BUS TOUR PERKS

:smoke: :smoke:

" Rep. Earl Blumenauer wants to know just how much taxpayer money was spent providing Sarah Palin with private tours, early admission, and special escorts at National Park Service run public attractions.

Here is the full letter:

http://www.nationalparkstraveler.com/files/Blumenauer-Palin%20Letter.pdf

Rep. Blumenauer wondered if the same perks that the Palins got were available to an average American family. More importantly, he wondered how much Sarah Palin’s traveling road show cost federal taxpayers. He requested that the National Park Service provide an explanation of their policies towards the use of taxpayer funds for publicity events. He also wants an accounting of how much was spent giving Sarah Palin the celebrity treatment.

As a private citizen Sarah Palin is allowed to visit any public place that she wants, but the taxpayers should not be responsible for her escort and security any more than they would be for any other citizen. Why are taxpayers footing the bill for Palin to get the VIP treatment? After all, she was supposed to be on a “family vacation.” In these tough economic times America can’t afford to make the transplanted Cactus Queen feel like a VIP.

Sarah Palin is a millionaire many times over. She can afford her own escorts and security. I know that she believes that because she is a celebrity she doesn’t have to stand in line like the rest of us, but taxpayers should not be picking up the tab for her decision to use historic locations as a backdrop for her publicity tour.

17. They might be on it if somebody tapes a picture of Anthony's Weiner to the side of her bus.
That's apparently the only way to get attention from the news media these days.

21. I thought it was his forearm.
No, really. I forgot the thread where this point was made, but when you flip the pic ove, it more looks like someone's forearm and fist shoved into the briefs.

9. Normally I wouldn't care about the few bucks spent giving a celeb special treatment...
...but I seem to recall the snowbilly and her supporters grabbing pitchforks and screaming "off with their heads" when Michelle Obama and a few friends went to Europe last year on a vacation because they didn't think she even deserved Secret Service protection. They went on to demand an investigation over whether her friends got any govt perks in the way of meals and transportation. It was dropped when it was shown that they paid their own way, but the outrage continued until the next shiny object caught their eye.

Considering the Tea Bagger's fixation on nickels and dimes when it applies to Democrats, I say let's look into this and demand total reimbursement, because that's how Sarah and her PAC contributors would want it.

14. Can you imagine the commotion
if Palin was made to stand in line and pay just like the rest of us.

I can imagine a "Don't you know who I am?" line from her sorry ass.

Palin: Not like everyday Americans. She's an elitist in her mind.

18. Faux News viewers get MILKED and everybody else gets BILKED.
While the Wasilla Hillbillies are sucking on all the tits they can reach.

As far as I know, this technically qualifies as a Fox News publicity stunt. It's definitely not a family vacation, and officially it's not a political campaign. So, as a TV network publicity stunt Fox News should pay for all expenses.

And actually, I DO have a problem with "celebrities" getting special treatment at public parks, monuments etc. Fate and luck may have favored celebrities, but the U.S. government is supposed to be the one and only man-made institution that is dedicated to liberty and equality.

CELEBRITIES SHOULD NOT GET ANY SPECIAL TREATMENT. If Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie show up at the Paul Revere Museum, they stand in line for a ticket, and wait until it opens like everybody else.

20. No publicity here!
Ha ha ha!

"It's not a publicity tour!"

No more than when Lady Gaga goes on a non-publicity tour for an album...

Gaga just wants to meet people all over this great country. That's all. Just like YOU!

Right. Got it, Sarah. > wink wink < Your secret is safe.

To think that Lady Gaga should have the words "mobile virgin" painted on her bus.
