Now that he's admitted it, I'm really torn about this Weiner thing
1. As I was with Edwards, I'm disappointed that, understanding the political and puritanical bent in the country, he would do something that if found out the Republicans would definitely use to try to destroy him and hurt the Democratic Party.

2. I dont care about things like this and dont believe they SHOULD be an issue. No law was broken. I'm angry and annoyed that this does matter in this country.

3. I'm REALLY pissed off that this gives Breitbart some legitimacy.

4. I hope this does not finish Weiner, but the guy does need some help. Anyone who does something like this knowing what I wrote about in #1 is either self destructive, has an inability to control themselves or both.

3. What part of "Nothing is private on the internet" do these clowns not understand?
Let's forget that these are the kind of shenagnigans I would ascribe to eighth or ninth graders. Certainly people should have the good sense after graduating high school not to put anything "out there" that might reflect on negatively, because your prospective boss just may get an eyefull.

The idea that these politicians are supposed to be guarding our state secrets is alarming. More than anything, this reflects on Weiner's lack of judgement. As in, he doesn't have any. It's infuriating that national politicians seem to live in a bubble to the degree that they think they can get away with very public, clownish, sexist and stupid behavior.

Infuriating!

I'm not torn in the least. Whatever good Weiner might have accomplished just got flushed.

  • 1. As I was with Edwards, I'm disappointed that, understanding the political and puritanical bent in the country, he would do something that if found out the Republicans would definitely use to try to destroy him and hurt the Democratic Party.

I, too, am disappointed in Weiner.

  • 2. I dont care about things like this and dont believe they SHOULD be an issue. No law was broken. I'm angry and annoyed that this does matter in this country.

The Republicans will spin this for what it's worth. Just like we did with Senator Vitter, and he's still in office.

  • 3. I'm REALLY pissed off that this gives Breitbart some legitimacy.

That's the worst thing about this. I fell into the trap of assuming that if this comes from Breitbart, it must be a lie. Nevertheless, I'll probably feel just as safe making that assumption the next time he slings manure. This is the first time that I know of that a Breitbart announcement has stood up to the slitest scrutiny. With that kind of record for reliability and veracity, he still has to prove this wasn't just a case of a broken clock.

  • 4. I hope this does not finish Weiner, but the guy does need some help. Anyone who does something like this knowing what I wrote about in #1 is either self destructive, has an inability to control themselves or both.

That's Mr. Weiner's call. Enough said.

8. I dont care about what Vitter did. I care that it makes him and Republicans hypocrites.
I dont care about any consensual sexual act between adults and dont think people should have to resign for them.

I care if the same person is a hypocrite, however. If you can show me where Weiner got on someone's case for something like this, then that would be another issue.

14. OK
That's why catching someone from the party of Christian family values is a lot more fun.

Nevertheless, I think Weiner will survive politically if he wants to make the effort.

12. That is exactly what I think.
We can't change the msm or breitbart or the republicans. We know they will dig up dirt and make the most of anything like this. So just do us all a favor and don't run if you have no self control. You do us more harm than good.

10. Torn? Do you live in his district?
do you contribute to him?

are you now going to oppose issues he has stood for?

if the answer to all of these questions is "no", then who cares?

you want to vent, fine, but you don't really need to be torn, or to approve of Weiner unless what he did is going to make you do something else.

me, i have bigger fish to fry and i'm not changing my mind on any issues that i agree with this support on and i haven't had any involvement in voting or supporting his reelection.

if the same goes for you, i don't see what it matters what we think, at least, as a practical matter.
