Poll question: If Anthony Wiener was in your Congressional district?
Would you vote for him in the next election?

1. I would vote for the Democratic nominee, as I hope every single DUer would.
Whether I voted for Weiner in the primary would depend on who was running against him.

Would you vote for the Democratic nominee if he was a confessed adulterer like Gary Hart?

(edited to make it a tougher question)

As long as we're playing with ridiculous, bullshit hypothetical questions. :eyes:

15. One thing does not imply the other.
Unless you think Weiner should go to jail for what he has done, as a rapist would.

The question, as I read it, is about Weiner.

50. Based on your edited comment, yes I would vote for an adulterer if they were the Dem nominee.
I would vote for a Labrador Retriever if it were they Democratic nominee. The Republicans are too insane to consider anything else.

Now what I would choose to do in a primary is a much more complex question.

25. I started to write virtually a verbatim version of your post...then I read the replies
and was glad I didn't. Apparently some people consider "thinking about" who to vote for is a bad thing...????

41. I can understand that. Weiner behaved recklessly.
I don't say stupidly, because he's not stupid. It's not that he couldn't think, he just DIDN'T.

Personally, it doesn't bother me overmuch, partly because I don't expect perfection out of any of our elected Dems. He deserves to be ashamed, primarily for lying to the public although the hurt he's done to his wife also makes him kind of a dick. But I also have no illusions that the most disappointing Democrat is anything less than light years better than the alternative.

20. Never!!!
Weiner has violated all trust that his constituents put in him. I an woefully unhappy as a democrat that a republican that got caught in the same type of lurid situation would resign after being found out, but the democrat refuses to resign. Anyone that care about whether the House is retaken and the Senate held should INSIST that Weiner resigns NOW!!

39. Newt Gingrich's activities have been about as lurid as you can get.
Then he turned around and blamed his behavior on a "love of country". Seriously. Now the dude is running for President. Go figure.

Justice Clarence Thomas sexually harassed females working for him and lied about it. He lies about his wife's salary on his income tax returns. He accepted money from Citizens United backers. Clarence Thomas should be impeached.

John Edwards has been totally disgraced with his "sex scandal" and is facing prison time. We assume that Wiener told everything about his discretions. I sort of doubt that but it is sad that he threw so much away with adolescent arrogance.

26. I'd certainly have serious questions about his judgment and veracity
This was just plain juvenile and risky in the first place, and showed incredibly poor judgment in lying to the press on the other hand.

If I lived in his district, I'd certainly vote for him, but I'd honestly have to hold my nose. I'm sure there are probably plenty of equally progressive but more mature and honest people in his district who could primary him. That would be my preference. A woman might do well to take him on.

Frat boys are not my favorite kinds of Congresspeople. Do I feel comfortable with someone whose social behavior remains in Jewish sleep-away camp mode? Not a lot. I prefer grownups.

46. depends on who he's running against
I'd vote for him against any republican in the general. No matter how big a lying asshole he is in his personal life, he'll still be better than someone who always votes like a lying asshole.

In a primary? It depends. It's generally a safe Democratic district, so I might vote for somebody I think is moderately less sleazy.
