Rules don't apply: On the road, Palin's tour a rolling menace...
SEABROOK, N.H. — Sarah Palin’s bus is plastered with a mockup of the U.S. Constitution. But her entourage — both the three-vehicle motorcade that includes the bus and the smaller, two-SUV version she uses for smaller events — hasn’t been very respectful of the traffic laws.

They speed. They run red lights and stop signs. They make last-second lane changes to get off the highway, sometimes without signaling.

So do the reporters following them.

Journalists in the caravan trailing her One Nation tour bus describe the experience as harrowing, a rolling menace careening up the East Coast in hot pursuit of the former Alaska governor who declined to provide any advance itinerary of her tour over six days on the road.

As they left the clambake she attended Thursday in New Hampshire, Palin’s two-SUV caravan did 52 miles per hour in a 35 zone as it peeled away from the hosts’ neighborhood. Both cars blew through a stop sign about a mile later. They did 70 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-95 — and then, after they got off, without signaling, flew right past a flashing sign informing them they were going 45 mph in a 35 mph zone.

*snip*

44. You actually complain about UnRec 2 minutes after the thread is posted?

Plus, this thread was so important to you to complain about an UnRec, but not important enough to use the first response to actually say something about the story. Perhaps that is all you had to say.

Edited on Fri Jun-03-11 09:54 AM by Mz Pip
at least for the "journalists" - STOP FOLLOWING HER!

And maybe some highway patrolman can pull the lot of them over and give them tickets. Might be a good way to increase revenues for the cities she speeds through. Around here, stop sign/red light violations are pricy tickets.

I want to see is, "Whatever happened to the Palins, wasn't she going to run for President?"

22. Most don't want to follow her, but their bosses require them to, and
those bosses' bosses require them to assign reporters to the "story."

It is all so disgusting and ridiculous. I am so ashamed of what my country has become.

and someone compared Palin to Princess Diana who was hounded to death by the Paparazzi. Give me a break. why is Palin even getting a police escort through NYC? NYC has enough budget problems and shouldn't be escorting anyone who is just on "vacation."

15. Where is the video??? Everyone has a camera nowadays and evidence of this would
be huge news.

I'm not buying it. There are too many video cameras out there that could be easily catching this and it woudl be a huge news story, so I'm guessing it's made up.

I still recc'd it and hope we can get some video, but this sounds like a UFO story.

20. I had a gov't teacher (when they still taught gov't) once ask ...
What is the difference between Liberal thinking and Conservative thinking?
He then gave an example about making a U-Turn while driving where there is
NO sign, and here is the explanation:

You're a Conservative thinker if you want to make a U-Turn and there is no sign,
then you don't make a U-Turn because there is no sign that says it's legal
to make a U-Turn.

You're a Liberal thinker if you want to make a U-Turn and there is no sign,
then you make the U-Turn because there is no sign that says it's illegal
to make a U-Turn.

I'll never forget that lesson.

So by this definition, since there is no mention of Speed Limits in the Constitution
then Princess Sarah should not be speeding because there has to be something in the
Constitution to says it's legal to speed.

38. Reminds me of our former governor/congressman
William Janklow was noted for speeding and otherwise disregarding traffic laws.

Once he gave a speech, in which he said. "Bill Janklow speeds. He shouldn't, but he does. Maybe if the penalty were more severe . . ."

Then he ran a stop sign and killed a biker.

He resigned from Congress, and was convicted of manslaughter. He served a ridiculously short sentence and although he was suspended from the bar he was reinstated to active practice while he was still on probation.

And, he won a court case wherein it was ruled that the Federal Tort Claims act applied. Therefore it was the taxpayers who paid the civil wrongful death judgment.

But of course Bill and Sarah alike run (ran) on a 'personal responsibility plank . . .
