Blunt: Climate Change Not to Blame
Source: KC Monitor

With the 125 confirmed dead in Joplin becoming just the latest casualties in what has already been an unusually strong spring storm season, many climatologists have begun to suggest the deadly outbreak of tornadoes in the last two months may be the result of global climate change.

Scientists have long theorized that storms of all types will increase in intensity due to a warming of the planet caused by greenhouse gases generated by man. The idea being that more moisture in the air from higher ocean evaporation rates means heavier storms.

But Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt dismissed the idea that man-made climate change was to blame Thursday during a conference call with reporters, saying that deadly storms have always been around and fluctuate from year-to-year. He said deadlier tornados have taken place in the past, including 1953 and 1974.

“I think this has been a year where the winter-spring transition was such that it just created this environment, as it did in 1974,” Blunt said. Tornado outbreaks across the United States this spring have already claimed more than 400 lives.

8. The Fact That The Talking Point That A Severe Storm Does Not Prove Climate Change...
...reminds me of someone in a National Park wandering around insisting that a tree does not mean that there is a forest as the bump into tree after tree after tree.

9. Only if a celebrity isn't available.
What do the Kardashians say about climate change? That's what we'd all listen to.

4. Every time a blunt talks to me, it tells me something more sensible than this
When are we going to admit that our entire mental-health system has completely missed the point?

For some reason, it is acceptable to be insane in this fashion, presumably as long as you can perform some role for the powers that be.

6. And I know it would have been worse in 29 if they did not have early warning radar & EBS systems
Uhh is that not the factor we have to add into the equation back then people had no warning systems if this was the same storm back then the toll would have most likely been higher!

7. Yeah Roy - you're SO perceptive
BTW - the vote in NY's 26th district was just a fluke. Pay NO attention to it. It's NOT a harbringer of things to come for the GOP.

11. Those people in Joplin elected this guy!
If these *ssholes could get away with it, they would not allow us to have back one penny of our tax dollars for anything we as a society might need. He knows the effects of climate change, but he also knows that putting cities and lives back together costs money.
