More countries accepting gay lifestyle: study

WASHINGTON — The vast majority of countries around the world have become more accepting of homosexuality, with the exception of Russia and other former socialist countries, a new study has found.

The report, compiled by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, examined general trends in over 30 countries regarding their attitudes towards homosexuality.

Approval of homosexuality increased in 27 countries and decreased in only four: Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Latvia and Russia, the study noted.

The growth in approval ratings was stronger than the decline.

5. Is the objection to the word "lifestyle" rooted in the stereotype that...

the gay lifestyle is about partying and promiscuous sex or something?

Is there even a good word to describe what I think the article is trying to get at?

6. There are two objections, IMO.

The first is that "lifestyle" implies choice. For many, many years, being gay was thought to be a choice; we still hear it. Part of that choice, is the "deviant" sex we have; therefore, 'lifestyle' is seen as choosing to be abnormal, in a way. The other objection is "lifestyle" is defined as a "way of living" and therefore, gays and lesbians "live differently" than others; we don't; well, not in the way many might think. There is no "gay lifestyle", just as there is no "black lifestyle," or "Jewish lifestyle." There are religious lifestyles, which vary, and "personality" (partying, sexual, quiet, studious, political, etc.) lifestyles, but, imo, most "lifestyles" are not based on who a person is with regards to things like race, ethnicity, sex, or sexual orientation.

How does it differ from any other "lifestyle?"

Do all GLBT people do the same things?

I hate that term.
