Say you got a BSOD (blue screen of death) on your PC, and say you are clueless, so you write down the error, then search and search the Google until you find this

http://wiki-errors.com/ and in little tiny letters way at the bottom is this

But then after you download their free 'tool' you find out they are a scam website selling a piece of shit called Error-End, a basic registry scanner for $29.95 (seems to be the going scam rate) and it won't fix the errors until you pay for it.

The errors it finds are bogus too.

Error End, stay away and also from wiki-errors.

Another scammer trying to separate you from your money.

1. What I hate is going to download some freeware..
And you have to search high and low and damn near with a microscope on the screen to find the right download link among all the big lurid ones that are for something you have to pay for.

2. If anyone here gets a BSOD just PM me
I'll give you professional advice for free

But I warn you, neither I nor anyone out there can save your files if you didn't make backups.

6. Fixed a laptop last night for a friend of my Sweetie's from work
A bunch of bad infections including the fave hard drive scanner. Best Buy wanted $200 to format the drive and simply reinstall Win 7, would not save files. Safe mode, found the sucker hiding in users/user/appdata. You would think by now they'd name the file something other than BXPGHFC54USRRFWP. e xe but they aren't the brightest bulbs in the bunch.

Saved all of her photos and music to a 16GB thumb.

Never thought of saving the files, just not aware, these are appliances, when they break, buy another....

3. My wife volunteers at a Senior living community
and I usually get the call to help with their PC problems. I've cleaned this one out at least a dozen times since April. The phone #'s, if you do get through, ask for $29 to $59 for the code. I've printed out copies of this screen shot and posted them all over the place with a warning not to touch anything until I can get there.

Nothing like working on an ancient box with Win95 to keep my mind active though.

BTW, I don't charge them but if they don't stop with the cookies and coffee cake I'll weigh 300 lbs soon.

4. That is a variant of a bad Trojan, easy to find if you have skills, terrifying for the untrained.
