Each and every one of them will tell you how courageous Paul Ryan is and how great is his plan. Finally someone recognizes that we need to do something about the costs of the social programs. They commend Paul Ryan for coming up with his proposal.
Because they dare not speak against it. Just ask Newt. However, they all want to talk about the greatness of the plan but they don't want to accept responsibility for voting for it. Even those that voted for it already in the House are making excuses and trying to call it something else than what they voted for. No, it doesn't kill Medicare as we know it. It saves Medicare. Anyway, if you are 55 and over, you don't have to worry about it. Nothing changes for you.
The Republicans in the Senate, who have the majority in their sights, do not want to vote for the Ryan bill at all. They praise it but they don't want to embrace it. They want their Tea Party supporters to understand that they agree with Paul Ryan. They want to cut the deficit and the debt, just like they promised. But they don't want to vote on it because they could lose everything, including the House. People do not want to see Medicare cut so they can give taxcuts to their wealthy friends. Even Republican voters can see thru it and do not support their Party.
Democrats would be wise to make them either own or disown the Ryan Plan. Harry Reid should bring it to a vote in the Senate. Do they want to kill Medicare as we know it or do they want to try and save it? The choice is there and they should be forced to make it. The House has already voted on it and are running from their votes. They will be able to fool many of their supporters but many will read it just as it is. It is time for the Democrats to go on the offensive. Force the Senate Republicans to take a stand.
