Mom's 911 Call: 'I'm Missing My Daughter's Party'
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- A parked ambulance kept a woman from her child's birthday party in San Antonio, Texas. So she dialed 911.

Dispatcher: "Live Oak 911. Where is your emergency?" Caller: "Yes, hi. I'm at Peter Piper at the Forum and two ambulances are parked behind me and I have to leave. It's my daughter's birthday party and I have guests at the Skateland East. I can't be late."

Paramedics in San Antonio were putting a man on life support when the woman made the call.

The woman just didn't seem to get it -- that the ambulances weren't moving until the paramedics finished their job.

Caller: "They can't just reverse a little so I can get on with my life? My daughter's birthday party is going to start pretty soon and the guests are going to be sitting there.”

Dispatcher: “No ma'am, they're on a medical call and they need to treat that patient and they're not going to move their ambulances."

Caller: "They've been in the ambulance treating him and he's not dying."

It took only six minutes for crews to move the ambulances.

This is the "ME!" centered world we live in today...Maybe she can sue the city for pain and suffering for making her late to the biggest event in the known universe...

3. "..so I can get on with my life"?
Someday you might need one of those ambulances to help you get on with your life, lady. Geez.

5. But she'll be willing to let them move the ambulances, I'm just certain.
Do I really need this? :sarcasm:

4. Sickening.
Was working a Code Blue on a kid one time in an affluent hospital.

We were all in the room attempting to save the life of a child.

Nobody was at the desk.

Another parent walked INTO the room where the Code was taking place with a water pitcher and DEMANDED that someone leave THAT room and get her some water.

It was blatantly obvious what was going on--yet her sense of entitlement was amazing.

It happened in the reddest county in Texas.

8. Had I been the parent of the child in Code Blue
that parent demanding water would have needed to have that water pitcher surgically removed from her ass.

9. We had already removed the parents from the room
otherwise...it is quite possible that might have happened.

19. Yes. It was a baby that had severe RSV
and it was a respiratory arrest.

Fortunately, once we got the tube down and the vent on her, it was just a matter of time until she was able to maintain her oxygen on her own. She had just worked so hard to breathe that she wore herself out and needed to rest. The ventilator gave her that opportunity.

12. I can just imagine a nurse or doctor
I can just imagine the demon growl that a doctor or nurse would give someone trying to do something like that.

14. more common than you know
Patient says "where's my doctor, I'm supposed to home today?"
Nurse says "he is in the ICU with an emergency, there was a bad accident".
P: "but I want to go home..page him again...5 times is not enough"
N: (Is thinking, but does not actually say aloud)"remember when you had indigestion from those six burrito's and you thought it was a heart attack and the doctor attended you, leaving OTHER patients who also wanted to go home? No? I didn't think so."

15. true story, not a 911 call though ...
I was flying from Cleveland to Vegas around Thanksgiving a few years back ...

Suddenly, the jet took a hard right turn in the sky, made a jarring landing in Chicago.

Paramedics boarded the plane, were attending a person a couple of rows behind me (I couldn't see). Finally, the paramedics carted off a patient, accompanied by his wife. Turns out that the person was having a possible heart attack (thus, the diversion from the flight path to an emergency landing in Chicago).

As we were waiting there, I heard a person behind me get on his cell phone and this a**hole was complaining that we were being held up from him getting to Vegas ... must have been a "compassionate conservative".

"Hey, some guy's holding us up, just because he might be dying ..."
