Christie:"We did not have any significant loss of life..extraordinary accomplishment"
Edited on Sat Jan-01-11 02:28 PM by Still a Democrat
FREEHOLD, N.J. - Gov. Christie, who was criticized for vacationing in Florida as a blizzard pummeled the East Coast, defended his trip and praised the state's response to the storm, which dumped nearly three feet of snow in some areas.

Speaking Friday at his first news conference since returning home, Christie said he made all major decisions on the state's response in consultation with Senate President Stephen Sweeney. Sweeney, a Democrat, was serving as acting governor after Christie, a Republican, left the state Sunday morning, hours before snow started to fall heavily.

"We did not have any significant loss of life," Christie said, calling it an "extraordinary accomplishment."

Christie defended taking his children to Walt Disney World for a week while Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno also was away, and said he was in constant contact with his staff and Sweeney during the storm.

1. Here's the thing: HE was elected to be the governor, a position that
the voters believed was non-delegable to another state official, such as Steve Sweeney. Sweeney's competence is not the issue although appreciated.

Christie could have flown back the minute the airports were open again or he could have stayed home in New Jersey to ride out the storm and sent his kids to Disney World with their mother. He could have easily scheduled another vacation for a later date.

2. Christie's a douche bag.
It's evidence for the next election that the arrogant bastard doesn't deserve to be governor. However, by that time, he and his conservanazi thugs will f*ck over NJ.

3. Isn't it protocall to have the Lt. Gov. on duty when the gov.
is off elsewhere? Similar to the VP always being a stand in when the President is off in Europe or somewhere else? I think THAT'S the big problem here. Dimwit's second in command was ALSO on vacaion!
