1. Do they simply not have the manpower, or the will
to do ANYTHING between Friday and Monday? Pathetic.

12. Fair point. NT

But if they were a legit 24 hour news channel.... wouldn't they see ratings rise overall if they committed to weekend news? Sunday is the day most Americans watch TV. More people watch TV on Sunday than any other day in the week. How can you have 0 news on a day when most of the key politicians give interviews when its the same day most Americans watch TV?

7. One difference - the Iowa poll was predictable, they didn't know what would happen in Libya
It is pathetic that they have to fill the weekend with garbage.

8. True-but they should be able to get SOMEONE to anchor "Breaking News" like this.
Richard Engel is in Libya. Someone should be able to get on TV and get reports from him.

11. Hey now, those "Locked up" and "Caught on camera" programs...
..get surprisingly good ratings! Seriously, they do.

But yeah, I agree with you. MSNBC needs to be ready to go to breaking news immediately when something like this happens.

People hear something big like this is happening they tune in looking for news, if they see a reality TV re-run they'll quickly turn the channel. CNN basically ends up getting both their own audience and people who'd prefer MSNBC and can't stand Fox.

17. They didn't start live coverage until 8pm
long after the real 24 news networks broke into regular programming and it pains me to call Fox a news network. But they covered it unlike MSNBC
