Obama's 'thoughts and prayers' with families of lost troops
By: By CNN's David Ariosto and Barbara Starrr

KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) - More than two dozen American troops are believed to have died in the deadly helicopter crash in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, a U.S. military official told CNN.

President Barack Obama issued a statement expressing his condolences to the families of the troops.

"My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of the Americans who were lost earlier today in Afghanistan," Obama said. "We also mourn the Afghans who died alongside our troops in pursuit of a more peaceful and hopeful future for their country."

5. His war. His arrogance as Commander in Chief to keep them there for no reason.

7. No it is not
Only republicans would say that, trying to dodge responsibility themselves.

9. Bush said the same exact thing, thoughts and prayers and all that.
Now that it's Obama I'm supposed to like it I guess.

12. 3 recs? Really? Do the haters on DU hate the military so much
they can't sympathize with this enormous loss?

And please spare me the refrain that we need to get out of Afganistan. That has absolutely NOTHING to do with this. We're there and they guys who were killed didn't make that decsion. They just carried out their ordered with honor and died in the process.

13. Yes, I hate the military and what it does around the world, but
that is not why I unrec'd this. If we were there none of this "sympathy" would be necessary because there is a great possiblity that none of the dead would BE dead. I realize that the president MUST say these things, but it still makes me want to PUKE that people are dying because of our corporate wars.

15. a.k.a. "the usual pablum"
if he actually DID give a shit... he'd bring them ALL home now.

"The law of diminishing returns (also law of diminishing marginal returns or law of increasing relative cost) states that in all productive processes, adding more of one factor of production, while holding all others constant, will at some point yield lower per-unit returns.<1> The law of diminishing returns does not imply that adding more of a factor will decrease the total production, a condition known as negative returns, though in fact this is common."

There's NOTHING left to be gained there...
