President Perry.
Obama looks more and more like a one termer to me. Of course to some extent, that depends who his opponent is. I suspect it will be Perry, and I think Perry will win handily.

3. huh? not even remotely mad. don't give up your day job for
a mind reading gig.

I think there's a very good chance, for a myriad of reasons, that Obama will not be re-elected.

7. as I said, don't give up your day job, dear. And if you'd been around
DU in 2007-2008, you'd know that I was an early and fervent supporter of the President's, and I'm not an opponent now- though I've become quite a bit more ambivalent. I see him as vulnerable- in part due to his own actions/inaction and in part due to circumstance.

29. You're the only person I've ever seen lend Perry any credence.
Your prediction of Obama's loss doesn't worry me in the slightest because it comes from the same fortune teller who thinks Rick Perry has a shot.

41. The best thing about the whole thing? All the original Obama supporters imploding.
Just imploding, losing all hope, completely disillusioned. Going in to this I knew that it wasn't going to be magical, regardless of who the party picked.

It's actually kinda sweet from a "Oh god those primaries were hell" thing, but yeah, I pity most of those people anyway.

9. I think Perry has a very good chance of beating Obama if he's the nominee- clown or not
Does the name George W. Bush ring a bell? Do you think he was a clown? Do you have any memory of how people saw him as a joke?

I hate to break this to you, but clowns can, have and will, win the Presidency. Historical knowledge is a good thing to possess. Consider obtaining some, hon.

Edited on Sat Jul-09-11 06:14 AM by jefferson_dem
You said Obama was destined to lose...to Rick Perry. Certainly, Obama's no shoo-in but his odds are easier better than 50/50, especially given the wackball Repug alternatives.

Unless you can provide actual evidence rather than emotion to back up your doom and gloom I'll keep :spray:.

Go here for lots of blue in the lead: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/president_obama_vs_republican_candidates.html

Also, recall the latest poll had Obama beating Perry ... in TEXAS. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/06/poll-perry-trails-obama-in-texas.php

10. Polls this early are not something I put a lot of stock in.
And yes, I think Perry would beat Obama. I don't see any of the other candidates doing so- with the possible exception of Romney, but Perry brings the South and quite possibly Florida, as well as western states. And that's logic, not emotion.

Ok. Dismiss the actual evidence and go with your gut.

I suspect the Obama camp would relish the chance to run against... and expose "Governor Goodhair". Sane voters, including white suburbanites, will be turned off by Perry's secessionist tendencies. "Bush / Texas fatigue" will also become a major part of the narrative.

Perry might bring most of the south but, as before, FL, NC, and VA will definitely be in play. And Perry should get royally spanked throughout the midwest and in CO, NM, IA...

Guess we'll see. Take care. :hi:

His secessionist bullshit notwithstanding, Goodhair enjoys wide recognition and support both among crazies and non-crazies. He is a formidable, ruthless politician with a lot of dirty tricks up his sleeve.

26. Will this happen
because a lot of Democrats will stay home and Independents will vote Republican?

Is that the theory?

"I didn't say I was staying home, I meant someone else will!!!!"

How does Obama lose if Democrats vote?

Are Democrats planning to sabotage the election to ensure a Perry win?

38. Why Perry?
I have been convinced of an Obama re-election since '08 but I must admit, the rumored tax cut deal gave me pause and made me reconsider this stance. The man is more capable of self-destruction than I ever imagined. Still, I think Romney has the best shot in the GE against Obama. Why do you think it will be Perry?
