Call me 'against Obama from the start', a 'racist', etc, but Obama's WH has let Democrats down hard.

The president's 'work together' approach with the treasonous bastards, who every damned one of us was chastising everywhere we went the past 8 years, many of whom should be on trial for complicity with the B*sh wars & disregard for the Constitution, has been an utter failure for the people. It sure has been a boon for the billionaire corporate masters by gauging their profits. You don't work with people that have shown they cannot be trusted with ANYTHING, and yet, it seems like he's worked with them and slighted the Democrats.

Given a clear and concise landslide electoral win that was over on election night before it started, with millions thinking, 'CHANGE THIS COUNTRY IN A PROFOUND WAY, SENATOR OBAMA!', he and his team of Rahm Emanuel and the best B*sh holdovers that lobbyist money could buy, went about working on behalf of the banksters and the medical/pharma industry - securing new billions to those who caused this mess, slaps on the proverbial wrist for nearly destroying the country, and then handing them a pen to write new legislation for both the financial sector and the health insurers to dictate their needs to 'fairly' compete.

Many thousands are dying because we don't have real health care reform (single payer or universal health care) and we continue to see horrible unemployment rates, and yet - happy f*cking new year to the big banksters and Wall Street scum getting their fat Christmas bonuses that were secured by the taxpayer's billions that allowed these corporate and investment firms to keep from failing. Never mind the millions who've suffered hardships this year unlike many of their families have ever experienced.

Enjoy your blood money, you son of a bitches...

Oh, and don't forget the hundreds of billions that President Obama has essentially demanded for future hell in Afghanistan (the place where invading countries go to fail), much of which will go to profits for those military industrial complex investors, VP's & CEO's - they thank the president greatly for his promise to extend warfare there for 3-5 (or more) years. How peaceful.

What a horrible situation we find ourselves in, I have to vocalize it somewhere, so I don't care how many read it or not, or attack me as not giving them enough time when they know themselves that there are highly questionable actions spotted all over this WH. We thought were getting change based on the superb speeches, but when all we really got was laid over the woodshed by a government hell-bent on more warfare - more corporate control - and more of the same Cheney-Era civil rights violations, not to mention the continuation of DADT which implies that GLBT people are not 'normal' enough to be in the military defending this nation - but hey, that and other Gay slights are par for the course from this administration.

What a grand ol' zippity do da new year coming our way!

I TOTALLY regret making this OP June 3rd, 2008 celebrating Sen. Obama's primary victory, and admit my happiness that day was for a positive historical event, but was given to what ended up being a questionable administration that needs to stand up for the citizens of this country who don't have millions in investments, or a military supply company. - http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6252126

1. Remember the Quote of Teddy Roosevelt?
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

I don't think you are a racist, or a "hater" I think you are just disappointed, like a lot of us are right now.

And you know what? That's ok. We elect people to office, and I think we also have a right to hold them accountable.

No politican should take anyones vote for granted, it should be earned.

2. What would Hitler do?
Obama can't dismiss Congress, or rule without the consent, indeed, without the approval of Congress. He's not a dictator, which means by himself he can't fix much. Ah, democracy!

3. Obama has the power of veto
among other things. He's not helpless.

4. Veto is a stopgap, that can be over-ridden by congress.
What should he have vetoed, that would not have been over-ridden?

9. Try Googling "Bully Pulpit"
Read Caro's biographies of LBJ.

A President can do a hell of a lot to move things forward. If he wants to: According to Feingold, one of the few honest voices in Congress, Obama got the bill he wanted.

12. Yes, Obama could do a hell of a lot more and these people better believe these bills are what Rahm &
his staff have crafted with the Senate.

Anything less is not being very honest. Of course, some here don't like fact - this is the president of the USA and he won in a landslide - like he doesn't have more power with his victory.

LBJ got things done, so did FDR.

I laughed when I saw a youtuber's name "ObamatheblackFDR" - he doesn't earn that title just by being elected, some people...

13. to read your one sentence comment, then look at your photo of Obama, you'd think maybe you should
take that off as a pic then. Because he doesn't 'have this'. But you see, you're actually right, and he has more power than you apparently believe in your reply - he has worked with big pharma to produce a mega agreement without involving too many people, and to think this HCB isn't what Rahm is telling him needs done is a joke.

You act like he's a helpless official in his final months of office when no one will listen to him.

5. It's always so odd to read things like this.
Candidate Obama told us EXACTLY how he intended to act.

Obama said that "we can't tackle the big problems that demand solutions" because "politics has become so bitter and partisan."

Paul Krugman, criticizing candidate Obama, said that "...what Washington means by bipartisanship is mainly that everyone should come together to give conservatives what they want.

"We all wish that American politics weren't so bitter and partisan. But if you try to find common ground where none exists -- which is the case for many issues today -- you end up being played for a fool. And that's what has just happened to Mr. Obama."

This was back in '07.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/16/opinion/16krugman.html?_r=1

When Krugman said these things -- when he pointed out the complete foolishness of working with an enemy like the Republicans -- many liberals trashed him. They were so convinced that Obama was a superhero that they didn't spend five minutes listening to what he was saying.

He was saying he was going to pursue bipartisanship. He was placing that as a higher value than anything along the lines of peace, health care, or civil liberty. And you can't, can't, can't have bipartisanship with unrelenting ideologues.

6. As much as I'm disappointed at the way health care is going, I can only say to you --
"Thanks For Your Concern; Enjoy Your Stay!"

":hi:"

11. HA! that's all your one sentence posts ever say - do you ever have an original OP or reply that's
longer than 'enjoy your stay'?

I'd love a great reply with several paragraphs why you believe things are going so good that he's worthy of such high marks from you? Oh, wait, I have no idea what you think because you say so very little that expresses anything other than snark. You sound like a cheering section of a high school team - only applauding because you think you're supposed to because they're your 'hometown' team.
